Likely to have been caused by a major Train De-railment in the area in recent weeks

So after yesterday results Cashmere Technical, Nomads, Ferrymead Bays the three sides in the box seat to battle out the top three spots.

Nelson Suburbs can still reach 13 points which could mathimatically see them finish top but would need four other results to go their way for this to happen, however this seems unlikely.

Cashmere Tech only need three points from their last two games (Coastal - home, Suburbs - away) to guarantee them the title.

Two wins for Bays (Southland - away, Queenstown - home) would see them finish in the top two.

If Nomads win away to Queenstown next Saturday they will finish in the top three.

Too many permutations to work the bottom half of the title.

Another cracker game between Nomads and Cashmere Technical with Nomads taking the lead, then hitting the woodwork with Technical levelling right on half time. Technical dominated early in the second half and took the lead when brought down in the area and taking the lead from the penalty. Nomads then had a good period and going close several times before Daniel Thoms wapping up the three points with a screamer late in the game.

Several hundred watching including Tasman coach - Andy Hedge along with Dragon's Willie Gerdsen.

Any reports on the other ChCh derby.

2nd Spot (Highest ever finish)

Cup final to play

Shield already in the cabinet.

Pushed Tech to pens in the Chatham

Been a brilliant year for Coastal. If they can improve again next year then they will be a real force.

Not bad going for a team with just two national league players.

They could still win the English Cup! That's if Mr Herdsen lets the final be played! I hear decades of history and tradition will be thrown out the window because the normal final date doesn't tie up with the German calendar!

Someone from Mainland or AW82 maybe be able to confirm this interference, but I have not heard of any other National league teams staff having such a major impact on club football in their federation.

The English cup should be a weekend afternoon kick off. Allowing the winners (players, supporters et all) to celebrate appropriately from the cup following the match (which is much harder on a weeknight) these traditions are why club football will endure long after composite teams have exploded.

I hope this rumour is not true!

Could be called match fixing.

Imagine if the person doing the big wig I am the one gig was a ref be worse than having Howard Webb or Markus Merk with a whistle.

wow. time for mainland to grow some actual balls!!! i'm not sure in my 50+ years if an English Cup final has ever been played midweek? played in a couple in the mid 90's and the saturday afternoon games always allowed for a great atmosphere with a large number of juniors watching. how the hell to these idiots justify the change, or have they at all?

So the bottom 3 teams will almost certainly be all Southern sides - yes they have competed for some games, but not all crucially. I do hope FS don't pull the plug on it as a result, for a time Tech looked unbeatable and Southland and Queenstown have shown that on their day they can beat anyone too. Give these sides 6 months of solid planning (alongside the mainland teams) and we will have a fantastic two round spectacle on the cards!

A good read from a good Newspaper, well done the ODT.

Dunedin Tech coachTony Martin still thinks the SIL is worthwhile.

Does the journo not do his checking before penning a story or know something not put out yet re Queenstown defaulting?

Queenstown may not beat Bays nor do I expect them to but give them the expectation [for another few days] that they could jump Coastal if they do.

Will the SIL continue next season?

It needs to be two full rounds to make it worth the effort.

What will happen next year if [more likely than previous years after the Nelson SIL performances] Nelson don't make the top 5 in the MPL.

Will the MPQL be between two teams or are we expecting midweek games for Nelson as per the games this season?

Hope it does continue.

Maybe a better split is 4 from Mainland and 2 from Football South, that way two rounds in the SFL may be possible.

The MPQL would then have 4 teams so no byes needed.

Any ideas when plans for 2019 season will be discussed?
Is there a date set for meetings between clubs and Mainland / Football South so that when MF and FS meet up they know what the clubs want?

Would be good to have something for the clubs to go on..

Understand that both federations have asked clubs and players that have been playing in the SFL for feedback, via a survey and from there will be looking at planning for 2019.
