Can blame the Roar for the 31+ age group minutes, for a few weeks they kept breaking their own record for oldest average age of a starting eleven.

lots of interesting stuff, sydney only using 21 players across the season and nice graphic showing how such a large gap in playing minutes in their core starting XI and the subs - just 3 players between 200 and 1800 min, with 11 players 1800min + and 7 under 200min. MV were similar but not as pronounced.

Being able to put out the same squad week in and week out is a massive benefit, that is something we have been unable to do for quite awhile.

It's a good point when it comes to the Nix defense, while it hasn't been completely overhauled if we are able to feild a stable starting back 4 over the course of a whole season it makes a huge difference.

Denis Genreau & James McGarry, two kids that got no minutes for their A-League teams last season & yet both started in the Eredivisie this weekend. Does the A-League have a problem giving youth a chance?

Does it? Or does it just mean that not every young player will break through/get a chance - for a variety of reasons. (i.e. they don't play in a needed position, or, in McGarry's case, seemingly injured a lot) There are lots of success stories where young players have broken through in the league.

If McGarry wasn't injured when Cacace came into the team, it could've easily been him in there instead.

With the demise of the Aussie edition of FourFourTwo magazine, I guess Oz joins NZ as the only developed countries without national football magazines.

Shame to see it go - gave good coverage to the A-League and had a good website too.

New owners of the magazine's publishing house are discontinuing it because they see it as not profitable enough.

It's just rebranding to FTBL under new publishers. Same everything, they just don't have the licence to use the FourFourTwo name anymore.

I have not put the Wellington Phoenix in as I don’t think they will survive in the league past this season.

The writing team are maintaining the FourFourTwo website under the new FTBL banner but are not putting out a magazine anymore.

ADELAIDE United supporters can expect to be treated to an experimental FIFA World Cup style ‘fans fest’ as the A-League also contemplates initiatives to curb ‘downtime’ during matches outside of derbies.

A-League head Greg O’Rourke revealed the new fans incentives during a media briefing in Sydney on Thursday.

The FIFA World Cup fans fest are public viewing events which feature matches on huge TV screens, live concerts, food, beverage and other entertainment.

Eastern United Saints NPL State League captain Daniel Solari believes the proposed fans fest at A-League games is a winner.

He experienced the events in Russia for all three Socceroos group matches at the World Cup in June.

“The fans fest in Russia was a bundle of excitement and joy, it was a huge party before the game,” Solari, 24, said.

“There was live music, DJs, drinks, food and we partied together with fans from other countries, there was not one problem with fans they were all well behaved.

“I would love to attend the fans fest here to see what it’s like, it’s a great initiative, it will bring young fans together and it can only be beneficial for our game.”

With Solari confident new fans will jump on board the A-League because of the event experience, O’Rourke also revealed the video assistant referee will now be housed in a studio outside of Australian A-League venues, replicating the VAR experience at the Russian World Cup for match officials.

Only Wellington Phoenix home matches will have VAR located at the venue due to the New Zealand club having different TV rights holders outside of Australia’s Fox Sports.

what lazy, shark journalism. This is basically a summary of each team's youth prospects. Our academy is starting to produce some really great players, why not just chuck a few sentences about guys like Cacace and Singh in at the end? He's a fudgeing idiot if he thinks that we have one season left too

They've actually done something right for once.

Nice to see a pretty even split between W-League and A-League. Really hope that the Nix can have a W-League team one day.

Also thought Roly's and Kosta's form with us relative to Krishna gives an indication of performance. Also not sure why de Laet is so highly ranked relative to all other defenders.

So Perth have got 3 strikers, Victory have 2 and Kosta and Honda, Brisbane have Taggart, Mariners have Simon, McCormack and watsit,

Newcastle have got Petratos and Odonovan returning, City have Fornaroli and Vidosic, Sydney have got le Fondre and Brosque, WSW have at least 2, and Adelaide dunno.

How come we can't get have even 1 striker?
