If I had my way I'd let Ball, Sotirio, Fenton and Steinmann go.

First two simply not effective enough as forwards and Stein, as good as he is, we have too many similar midfielders and would prefer to use his foreign player status on a RB/LB or a goal scoring forward. Fenton is done at this level.

How was faaaaaaaark.

We were so good but fark we couldn't score.

How was Sotirio not subbed?

I like him a lot but why didn't we try anything different?

I dunno, if it wasn't for Chianese's goal from nothing, Perth didn't look dangerous at all and looked like leaking goals all over the place if it wasn't for our woeful finishing.

I feel for the guys. They've run themselves ragged for weeks without success. They've been away from home for a long time. It must take a toll.

Really disappointing in the end but can't say it wasn't entertaining.

Yep the games since the restart have shown our 2 priorities are replacing Cacace and getting a good striker.

Wonder if Aus/NZ will be seen as a more attractive option for overseas players in a Covid world.

Ball looked great when he had an out and out striker to play off of, that's clearly what the team is lacking. I agree on Steinmann though.

Load of nonsense mate. We bossed them for 70 minutes +

Not the coaches fault if no one can even get the ball on target

I like Ball a lot, he's just not a Striker.

We had a big hit when we lost Steinmann, I like him.

We need to get Wood or something.

We appear to have replaced Cacace with a right back. Elliott has been fantastic and should only get better with more game time - he's been more effective than Libby was when he first was starting games. Exciting future.

Not sure on that.  Europe has learnt to live with it and pro footie back on across Europe.  Can only really see Iranians, Indians, Mexicans and South Americans being keen. Not sure many of them would be up for the culture shock.

Imagine is Sotirio could shoot. But I suppose if he could, he wouldn't be playing for us...

Think if we can we'd keep all three, and ideally sign a striker or two. We probably won't have the option to keep them all I'd say.

anyone criticizing them needs to take a minute to think what the lads have given up for. They've been away from their families for months to try and bring something home for us and all we're doing is complaining about how bad we've been playing. Everyone needs to be more appreciative of how great our season was been. This time last year I think it's fair to say we were all getting ready for a wooden spoon battle with an unproven coach and no out and out goal scorer yet despite all that's happened in the world in the past few months and the sacrifices the players have made we have no right to be anything but proud of everyone who's contributed something to the season and wish the boys all the best for next year.

Absolutely gutted. We were twice as good as Perth today. Sure we lacked a target man and didn't get a ton of balls in the area but with Ball and Sotirio up top that was never going to happen. We played better, had more chances and more possession than they did.
They were more cynical and lucky than us but that's about it.
We certainly didn't deserve to go out like this. Shame we threw away a pretty sure chance to finish 2nd and that's where we should be looking to make sense of what has gone wrong.

All players tonight get a 7/10 from me other than Sotirio who gets a 6, and Reno/Elliot/Libby who deserve an 8.

Very gutted. Uncertain times ahead. Thanks for a pretty great season

Sotirio is stealing a living, not a professional footballer by any standards. Amazing how everyone else has improved throughout the season but he's managed to stay elite pub league at best. fudge

gutted. Didn’t deserve anything from that, our form post covid has been piss poor. We can only be grateful for what we did see pre covid, which was a joy. Just a shame to go out on a whimper. Officials were fudgeing sharke too btw.

I don't think anyone is criticising the players or the coach, aside from being unable to score goals. It's hard to come down from all the hype pre-COVID19 break and be beaten in the first round of the finals.

Really disappointing end to the season. We just completely lost our scoring mojo post lockdown. Sotirio has lots of good qualities but he is the last person you want to see having to make a shot in a tight situation.

It was a season that promised so much. We were the best team in the league mid season. F**k you Covid. I don’t see how it’s going to work having the Nix based in Australia next season...it’s not a viable way to run a football club.

Urgh what a frustrating way to go out. We haven't played as well since the COVID break but we've not had much luck either. Still, hopefulyl we can keep the bulk of this squad together to not have to fully rebuild for the first time in an offseason in some time.

Our season started and ended with Hooper. This game was wheeling out what had been failing over the past few weeks. We hardly from had the ball in the box and when we did there were a bunch of purple shirts.

Doing the same thing is and expecting or hoping for a different result is not guna win grand finals. We had a great league, but were missing pieces today.

I completely agree about being away from home, Perth struggled too post lockdown, but then so has Sydney.

It seems the more rubbish teams used the break to improve while SFC and us did everything we could to simply keep our squads together (kudos for that by the way), but they are professional footballers and bar Ball, Hoops and Devilla most are young men without families (eg Elliott, Cacacce and even Taylor) who should be used to this, just like a WC etc.

They were an awesome well structured dominant team.

and all the slagging off Sotirio should go to Uffie. A bit. Sotirio isn't Hooper. He put in a good honest shift and worked hard. Again- can't expect him to be a different player. He was strong on the ball and in some tackles, but has hit and miss technique which shouldn't ever be asked to lead the line in a final. Waine and McCowatt have been equally ineffective in the area and we don't have another journey man such as Hamish Watson. I think he was our best bet in the circumstances, a hail Mary change aside.

Aside from Davila no one else fired a shot in anger or looked likely.

Have to disagree there arnt to many teams in sport who have to be away from there families and friends support for extended periods. Much different from a WC where you have contact with family and friends. Not to sure why us fans are using it as  an excuse as having seen anyone associated with the team use it.

Probably Davila too, he has a newborn in Mexico during a global pandemic. If that sort of thing doesn't effect your professional life, you aren't human.

The big difference being that say you're an NBA player, first you make a TON on money whereas a good chunk of our squad will be on 80 to 120k which isn't bad but let's be honest, it pales in comparison to what other pros make. And also huge difference between being on the road for prolonged periods of time and dealing with Covid, with isolation, with the uncertainty this virus has created, with the risk of potentially picking up a deadly illness.

this. Start of the season I was not expecting finals football at all. The fact that we are gutted that we are out playing teams about that shows how far we have come.

Best thing to come out of post lock down is Elliott, has been brilliant.  Following in Libby and Singh's footsteps.   Also honarary mention to Hudson-Wihongi who might well take Devere's place next season.

Post Covid was frustrating to watch, but that is not a criticism of the players... playing all games in a different country, and not seeing family, etc, can't be easy.

I really hope Davila is back next year, he was back to himself tonight for the first time since Covid...

Anyway, is it just me, or is the high kick vs McCowatt not given enough attention??? If he fell to the ground clutching his head, like 99% of players in other teams in the league would of done, it would be a penalty...

Had that been at the Cake Tin 30k + fans would have booed and we'd have got an indirect free kick.  I really think the players missed the fans.  Remember we hear canned fans, the players just hear the each other, the refs and coaches atm.

Both TAHW and Elliott are off contract as well right? Tying them both up for two years at least must be a priority.

Wonder if Aus/NZ will be seen as a more attractive option for overseas players in a Covid world.

With how A League season 2020/2021 is shaping, unfortunately the reverse of this is likely to be true.
