Ach I know, given that both teams couldn't lose, them winning was the lesser of the two evils. I was more referring to the closing of the points. But it was a good result for us. More annoyed that we didn't get a good result against them.
I expect WSW to have a strong finish to the year and to take a lot of points from the top 6

Dunno if I'd get that excited. Watched that game last night and apart from an absolutely brilliant Roly WSW were awful until his flukey goal gave them the lead.

Not sure what to read from this result into our chances next weekend.
I don't fear Sydney at all; not like Melbourne. It will be interesting though, as Corica certainly won the tactical battle last time out.

I agree and look forward to Rudan having a tactical Plan B

No need to fear Melbourne anymore, we've taken 3 points off of them from 3 games, 2 away from home. They're our bitch as far as I'm concerned ?
More than not fearing MVFC, I don't fear Keisuke Honda either.

That's shouldn't be hard, as we were astonishingly bad and terribly negative against Sydney last time. Positive things happen when you are positive.

Completely disagree, to be honest - Sydney were the ones being "negative"- though it worked very well. They sat back the entire game, with two banks of 4, and defended very well. Just tried to hit us on the break. We were the protagonists in that game; just didn't do it very well.

I am with Valeo on this. We needed a plan B to change the tactics when banging our heads against a brick wall of two rows of four clearly gave us nothing but a headache.
I would have even accepted an ugly 0:0 draw but on top of everything they scored and we did not, despite being "positive".

Probably the best result, Adelaide's within reach (still) and Jets haven't caught us.
Now if only we could WIN when the rest draw or lose.

We want fourth and Adelaide has superior goal difference.

Bollocks to that, a point was the best outcome. I'm already nervous. Worst case scenario, it least it keeps them at bay for another 2 results. The goal difference isn't that bad of a worry (he says)...

No, it takes Adelaide 1 point further away. What's the point in coming sixth? We get one extra game in Sydney, sure we might win it but if we've come sixth we've come home poorly and won't have any confidence or momentum. We need a home semi or bust.

It's clearly the better of the two other scenarios. Ryan, who's to say we would finish sixth, if Newcastle had continued on from their previous win they'd be breathing down our necks. We need to buy ourselves time to get our team the necessary points / momentum back.
Pressure can also be a good motivator. I'm more interested in keeping up with those ahead of us than worrying about those behind. City are faltering and Adelaide have no more defenders. Jets may overtake them although I doubt it.
Next round, Adelaide (31 pts & +3) away to Sydney, Newcastle (23 pts) away to Victory, and City (29 pts) host Perth.
Nix (28 pts & GD -1) have the easiest game on paper away to bottom CCM, minus a suspended Simon.
That's almost a perfect setup round for Nix, ruined only by Glory having to travel!
Agruably even better for the Nix, with getting an extra week off compared to the 3 other sides (ie split round).
Reasonable chance after all that, Wellington could be equal on points with Adelaide, with AU only still sitting 4th on GD.
Big round over 2 weeks!
Losing Simon is probably a net gain for the Mariners ATM. But they're also without O'Neil.
How are those two British teenagers that they signed on loan going?

A draw is a good result because it’s only a total of 2 points given out to those around us on the league table, rather than 3.

Early days for them but from what I've seen they are nothing special. Karacan hasn't really clicked yet either. Simon may be a massive idiot be he is a big loss for them.
I would be extremely disappointed and surprised if we weren't able to beat them with relative comfort. Although having said that the only games we have won comfortably this season were a previous 2-0 win over CCM and the 4-1 over Roar - and even that one's arguable since if Taggart hadn't tripped over his own feet instead of tapping in for them to lead 2-1 the result might have ended up different.

Although not a "comfortable" win, our sole win over Sydney FC this season stands out in my mind as an easier win that that over CCM, in hindsight of course.

CCMs loss to Brisbane was the first time this year they've lost by more than one goal, pretty much nobody has been getting easy wins against them and of course Sydney only drew.
and they did score 3 albeit concede 5. Will be a challenge methinks.
