Long shot I know, but probably Perth will have first sown up by then, not sure if they'd rest players but maybe us being 'more up for it' could help us edge it.

Think that all depends if the players (ours) can be bothered by that stage.

A loss against MC, and it's the Nix who will be resting players for the long Perth roadie.

Looks like most of them are already having a rest tbh.

That worked out well. Adelaide have Victory next week, so there's a decent chance we'll be back to 4th if we beat City next week.

unfortunately, our performances over the past two weeks make that "if" look rather big.

Still gonna need to beat City and pick up at least a draw away to Perth as City host CCM and Adelaide are away to Brisbane in the final round.

If Jest fail to win tonight away to Perf then we have our Top 6 sorted with two matches to play.

If we beat City they'll basically be no threat. And Adelaide is away to Brisbane, so not necessarily gimme three points.

I guess the point is that the 4th is still there for the taking if we're good enough.

Cool..so that’s enough to win it this year and give us a good start in our final season then...

It's almost official, we've made the top 6!

Now just to sort out whether we finish 4th, 5th or 6th.

Somewhat of a positive after a pretty ordinary week.

No less, good effort this season boy's. COYN!

Also, congratulations to Perth Glory after winning the regular season with relative ease. Head and shoulders above the rest so far this season, and will be an absolute menace to face in the finals.

The big positive of Perth winning the league this week is that hopefully they will rest most of their stars when they play us, as they have nothing to gain and everything to lose by playing them, while that may be the difference between 4th and 5th for us.

They have the first week of the finals off, not sure why you would rest your players 2 weeks.

Why risk injury when you have nothing left to gain until then?

The flipside is why would you take two weeks off before the biggest game of the season to date?

From memory, suspensions do but cards don't, if that makes sense.

https://www.ffa.com.au/sites/ffa/files/2017-09/A-League%20Disciplinary%20Regulations.pdf

5.7 The accumulation of Yellow Cards will be reset to zero at the end of the last A-League Match of the Regular Season and any Finals Series respectively. This means that Yellow Cards accumulated in the Regular Season do not carry over to any Finals Series and Yellow Cards accumulated in the Finals Series do not carry over to the next Regular Season.

5.8 Match suspensions incurred as a result of the accumulation of Yellow Cards in either the Regular Season or Finals Series must be served in the next A-League Match in which the Club competes whether that be in the Regular Season or Finals Series.

Yeah, I thought that was the case too. Not sure what Perth's card situation is like but there could be an incentive to rest players at risk of suspension going into the first round of the playoffs.

Shane Lowry has 7 yellows, next is Juande with 5. So only Lowry is in danger of a ban.
