With Walter Scott telling the World that Wellington is 'picturesque', we should expect many more signings!

I describe Wellington to Australians as "Canberra + the hipster parts of Melbourne"

But seriously, ATK must have some stupidly large funds in the backroom to be able to buy two top A-League strikers. But doesn't it seem a bit suspicious that they'd buy our two top strikers? Not, say, Kosta? With Roy there's the ethnic connection, but did someone *cough*aformercoach*cough* give them the nod that a pair with Williams might be an option?

Is someone actively trying to get the Nix stripped for parts, is my question.

He is Indo-Fijian but that doesn't mean he has any connection to India itself.

I think this is straying too far into tinfoil hat territory. I don't think it's that unusual that they've targeted both players of a very successful strike partnership. They clearly work well together and are both off contract, so it makes sense to go for both

Personally, I think it's all bollocks. I'd be massively disappointed in Krishna if he bothered with the Indian league. There's more money and better games to be had.

Why? He has limited years left in his career and should cash in when he gets an opportunity. You can't blame him and at the end of the day money talks

But you see, that doesn't bother the Indians. Do you not remember when the AWs were playing in India and the locals were confused that Sarpreet Singh wasn't playing for them? No, they see the whole "Indian diaspora" as Indian, which is like seeing all Pākehā as British or Irish, but whatevs.

More likely agents and Fijian Indians (who may have some connection) follow form strikers and agents shop players for the best deal.

Oh I absolutely have no issue with Krishna chasing the money, but he's a better player than that.  He can easily get both elsewhere.

Not if it hasnt been offered to him there isnt more money. If he feels this is the best offer he  had not so sure i get why people think he could have done better.Happy for him that he has been able to get a decent payday so what if it may be somewhere where some think isnt good enough.

It no different to all the Premier League players and La Liga players going to China... yes there are other options, but its about setting oneself up for life.

Simple question, has Krishna made enough as a professional to live comfortably for the rest of his life - no. He has had a relatively short pro career in a league that is not high paying by international standards. Does Krishna have a trade he could fall back on once he hangs up his boots - he's thinking long term for him and his family. Good on him!

You can tell it's the off season, 'cause we're making an argument where there isn't one to be had. I don't think anyone is disagreeing that Roy deserves a pay day and should rightly look to set himself up for life after football as much as he possibly can. It's just some of us, me included, would like to think that someone in Japan/Korea/MLS/insert richer and higher quality league hereetc would think he was worth punt. But, if those people aren't knocking on his door, then absolutely Roy should be looking for the $$$, and the $$$ only.

Any thoughts on Mohamed Awad? I reckon he could be a great replacement for Burgess and he's turning heads over in the NPL for the Melbourne Knights. https://t.co/4twnLslWg5

Yes that is interesting. Only on the bench for ES in Handy Prem final.

Not sure if that says anything much about the about quality of NZ's national league, vs Aus state leagues.

But yes if he playing well over there, why not get him in for a trial.

In an article last week he expressed his desire to play in the A League, so that's a bonus for a start compared to some top NZ domestic players.

He's quality

Was behind McCowatt, Just and de Jong in the pecking order at Suburbs, which, when you look at the standard of those players, doesn't mean he's not A-League standard

Watched him play many times for Western Suburbs. He's an excellent player and wouldn't look out of place as a depth player for us. Being stuck behind McCowatt, Just and de Jong at ES is not a knock to his ability, his skillset is more as a false 9 which didn't seem to fit with what Danny Hay wanted to do. He obviously has excellent chemistry with McCowatt, so it would be very interesting to see if we could sign both of them and see what they could do together.

Assuming the rumour is true (and that is still an "if") then I would say - if Williams truly decided to also play there, why should we be knocking Roy? It may be that he considers cultural setting and climate there more amenable than playing in South Korea. They may have  offered him more money and he knows he does not have to try very hard to end up a leading goalscorer there.

As one of the few kiwis who were at the Indian games, the country has no appetite for football and it's league and local players are dire.

I'd be happy if they both went to China/Japan/Korea/Iran or even Saudi Arabia where there is a decent standard of football, but not India.

So what Kiwi options are there up front? Bevan? McCowatt? Waine? Billingsley? Watson? Draper? Appiah? Collier on loan? Brockie on loan? De Vries in January?

Has to be Waine and McCowatt. Plus an import and an Aussie.

Don't think you'd want any of the other ones you've listed.

Would people want to take a punt on Golgol Mebrahtu in the same way we did with Williams? Seems to have had a fairly okay run of form since leaving Australia, but has struggled for minutes at his most recent club.

Not someone I would want but the Roar still haven't announced Roy O'Donovan, we could always try and swoop in. Bit of a muppet but 39 goals in 80 games isn't to be sneezed at.

When CCM announced Roy and we announced Sarpong, I was *positive* that their A-League careers would've taken the exact opposite trajectories of each other

Boxall, Payne, and/or Pijnaker. Re-sign Doyle, bring JHS in for competition and thats defenders sorted? Gives us cover at the back and 4 VISA spots to fill in the blanks from:

Marinovic

Fenton, Taylor, Boxall, Cacace

Rufer (?)

Singh

(?) (?) (?)

That has been rumoured (pretty much confirmed) for a long time. He has gone and will be doing some playing over there but moving on also with Sports Management.

Adding to that list. Would be stoked if we can sign Bell and McCowatt

That would then be a pretty good core with 4 visa spots still to use.

Boxall's under contract until the end of this year, so unless he gets released early, that's not happening.
