Pretty sure it's hard to move teenagers anywhere; they have their groups of friends pretty firmly entrenched by that point. If they were older or younger it's different.

Please, I was a teenager and moved 12,000km.

Good for you.

Also; if he lives in Melbourne and they stay in Sydney - a 90 min domestic flight is far easier than a 3-4 hour international one, especially considering he would have games against the Jets/Sydney/WSW/CCM where he'd be in NSW

Totally doable, unfortunately

Apart from the fact that Rudan has come out and said that sort of arrangement wouldn’t work for him. He wants to be with his family - not a plane ride away.

Hard to know if McCowatt would consider the Nix, but worth asking the question.

Also wonder if Rudan is considering any Handa players as short term injury replacement for the backline.

With Fenton being ruled out for 12 weeks, maybe we can offer Payne a short term deal. That way he gets paid to trial with the club for a couple months with a view of signing him for next season.

I thought JHS would be a like for like replacement as he's been on trial before so he knows the environment, plus he's been quite dangerous on attack in recent times.

He would be another option but Tee Dubs has the OCL still, so might be less willing to let him go. We need to be looking at CB options for next season (Fox gone, Kopa probably gone, Dura another year older etc), so that is why I suggested Payne.

Agree with all that.

For RWB, Stafford Dowling? Fast, skillful, determined.

Wilkins, for LWB cover.

Hilarious looking back at some of the comments regarding David Williams signing for us from comment #1490 onwards. I think some people could do a pretty good review on what humble pie tastes like now.

To be fair up until his last season with Melbourne City he could often be genuinely awful. He had a particular knack for missing open goals that was quite amazing. But he is proof that some players take longer than others to develop in terms of confidence and all round ability and it's brilliant to see him living up to the potential he had as a young player.

Probably all it really means is that Rudan is an exceptional man-manager

Kurto could be leaving us this season. How we are feeling about the prospect of Stefan Marinovic? I thought it was a good keeper when the All Whites used to play games. Filip Kurto has been outstanding this year though and will be very hard to replace. Marinovic plus Sail fighting for #1 is okay. Does the import spot freeing up offset losing Kurto? Not sure what the plan is if Marinovic says no again?

Early in the season I would have said "yes".

By now, seeing how Rudan has nurtured and promoted talented Kiwi youth, I would say "no".

I was one of those that questioned the Williams signing. I've never rated him. Totally and utterly wrong now with hindsight

Mind you, I would also like to add that I want to see him go to a different team and do the same again. Burns here was fantastic, couldn't reproduce it elsewhere. Everyone raved about Ridenton and whats he done at the Jets....

I'm happy to take the hit, but he needs to go do it elsewhere to really ram it home.

My biggest worry about Kurto leaving is him going to another A League team. If he went back off to Europe I'd reluctantly wish him well, but I don't want us to have to face him next season.

Kurto like every other keeper in the league has his weaknesses.

I think he still needs to dominate his 6 yard box and work on his punching. I'm surprised bigger teams have not tried to stack the 6 yard box more from corners etc.

Still the best keeper in the league this year.

From memory, isnt that what Adelaide tried to do?

Agreed; every time the ball comes in from a corner, he will stay back - ever since the Adelaide (?) game where he flapped at one and conceded.

His shot stopping is far and away the best in the league, though.

Odd choice of words from Oli Sail.  If everyone were to remain, clubs license extended, i'd agree. Certainly deserves a new deal anyway, he's been solid when he's needed to be.

The last game he played against Newcastle, Sail was more than solid. He had a pretty awesome game that night. Just comes down to being able to being replicate that or close to, regularly.

Nah, players and team gotta be saying that. We can say we're doomed, but to be honest I've enjoyed not saying it this season

I would seriously try and snap Jack HS from Tee Dubs to replace Fenton. He's not as good defensively but he's been a stand out player this year and his marauding runs and tricky dribbling style would come in very handy

Better than Callan Elliott?

I guess 'Jack HS' is Sinclair.

He did look really good going forward in the semi-final.

Apologies yes it is Jack Henry Sinclair. Not sure he's better than Elliot as I've only seen the latter play twice. But I've seen Jack many times play for TeeDubs and I think he could make that right flank his

I've only seem him once this year but Aaron Spain has been a handy footballer in the past. He was Canterbury's best when they played TW in Jan. Perhaps could be tempted away from CHC

If he wanted to play for the Nix he wouldn't have been at ESAFC this season. Rudan has changed their perception somewhat but if he goes don't expect to see any Western Suburbs boys signing on the dotted line.

Cal went overseas to trial for a dutch team. Didn't work out for him and he came back after the Handa Prem/A-League had kicked off. Good chance he missed out or wanted to do something close to home while he figured things out.
