That's if they win. At the moment NZ players are more apathetic about this tournament than any other OFC nation.

I wouldn't equate Confederations Cup with the World Cup, although we can obviously use the competetive matches that Confed Cup offers.

Confederations Cup is a big thing. It is not that recognised in the soccer world. But if we qualify we get $1m USD. That might not mean much to a Brazil of France. But that is a hell of a lot of money to pump back into NZF.

Plus our players get more exposure and experience at a high level. The confederations cup is basically our World Cup. Qualifing for the World Cup every 30-40 years is not going to help us that much.

If we build it, they will come...

Getting to this tournament would be massive for soccer in Nz and I can't see us not getting there

Agreed. This is huge and I'm sure NZ Soccer will take it seriously.

With the confed cup alsmost a certainity and possible world cup qualification through an easier route we might have a little more success in getting some of our younger boys swapping aliegence back to us e.g. Winston Reid, Tommy Smith and the Celtic winger.

lets not put the cart infront of the horse people, lets qualify first (i know we will, but........)

hopefully if/when we get there we are actually competitive, not just there to make up numbers
