What are the chances of this actually being cancelled?

Edit: Woops wrong thread. Unless of course NZF are planning to cancel the rest of 2014. Which wouldn't be entirely surprising tbh.

Well South Africa is also gonna play Aussie, if they pull out maybe we could do a double header #Dreaming

It would not surprise me that if SA did pull out, that AU and NZ do a quick home and away friendly (which would not be a bad idea)

At least it would be a quick fix win. Then we can get revenge for Grella on Leo (note that this is not serious)

I dont think they will pull out, they will just cap anyone that wants a holiday to Aussie/NZ

Using "NZF" and "planning" in the same sentence is against the law I think.

Two words spring to mind. "Farsical" and "Typical". Please tell me DeJong had nothing to do with this. They should save the embarrassment and just call it off. Complete waste of time. More players have pulled out than Catholics using the Rythim method.

Is Farsical some kind of description of a hybrid middle eastern language/bad thing? Why call it off? Enjoy the AWs playing a game with a few different players. And stop being so miserable

Absolutely !
With no coach , all previous mistakes hidden away , and a whole group of new players I cant wait to pay good money* to see our lads get tanked by a well below average SA team ...

Brockie & Boyd are the only two left of the 4 named. Guess Brockie will get the full 90m up front in a 4-5-1

To be fair, many countries play games with players miles out from their strongest XIs outside of Fifa windows.  The most obvious one's being Mexico and Argentina.  SA is pretty bad at it too.  Even if this is NZ "C" its still a rare home international against a team who isn't an Asian or Oceanian minow.

Musa very deserved call up. His defending has been absolutely brilliant in what is a better league then the NZ national league.   Really happy for him,  Im sure Eagar might've been given a go if he didn't get injured recently.  Really happy for Musa though, hope he does well.

though i'm sure our friend Johnny is a little biased, the results tend to bear him out, and suggest that perhaps the 'Nix, what with Siggie and Dura getting older, Adams getting cut...could do worse than look at both the Muuuss and Eager for the 'Nix. Certainly drums beating on here for Eager for some time.

This will be really interesting to see where we stand against the top Asian sides.

Uzbekistan only marginally lost out on direct qualification to the World Cup after finishing level on points with South Korea but one inferior on goal difference in the final round group.

Uzbekistan then lost the play-off to decide fifth in Asian World Cup qualifying last year to Jordan who then progressed to the continental play-off vs. Uruguay. But they were only separated by penalties after two legs.

Uzbekistan were clearly superior to Japan in the earlier round of qualifying.

NZ's chances of qualifying for Russia 2018 depend entirely on who we get in the continental play-off - decision no doubt to be made soon.

FIFA seem to rotate Oceania's play-off opponent between Asia and CONCACAF.

A play-off against the fifth best side in Asian qualifying (Jordan last year) is not insurmountable.

NZ Under 20's 0 Uzbekistan 3 (Fifa Under 20 tournament in Turkey, 24/06/2013).

But we beat them 4 -1 (I think) in the Under-17's the year before.

How does this affect our A League situation? Is it duering an international break? Half a team missing? I note they are going there 5 days early for it. I can understand why but ffs, just for a friendly? Why ?

Occurs a month before the A-League starts. I assume that because it is so hard to get the squad together and this will be the first game under the new coach, they want to have as many training sessions and as much time together as possible.

Still very applicable , esp the first two .......tho SA might have to be replaced with Uzbk  ( no idea what a full strength Uzb side would be ...)....if one was a pedant , ....

"Like the All Whites, Uzbekistan emerged through their own confederation's world cup qualifiers, but failed to reach Brazil 2014 after losing an intercontinental playoff.

While the All Whites lost to Mexico, Uzbekistan were beaten by Uruguay."

According to Wikipedia this is the All Whites playing strip. Am I behind the times, or is this what they'll be wearing against Uzbekistan?

To qualify,  you have to have your photo taken with a girl who might be lucky enough to be 16 or older.
