Xhosa. Should be interesting.

This article is almost exactly what YF were calling for, get two players to come out and say they are in. And available for all games.
Captain Dura!
I wonder if Worthington heard the pod and went and asked Dura and Brockie at the media opportunity yesterday.
They are two of the weaker players anyway.

I have no idea what you mean, or the relevance of that statement.
This game seems the most logical, considering the timing, to give a few debutants a run. So who else is in the frame? Eagar? Any standouts from the ASB Premiership?

I thought it was a statement on how much they could bench press.

Now that's finally a game to look forward to!
I've always thought that bringing teams that NZ has a strong sporting rivalry with would be a great idea.
I'd also like to see the AW's play teams like Scotland, Ireland, and Wales more often.
Big crowds and media interest guaranteed, because people are familiar with these opponents from watching the AB's playing them.
- There will be four divisions, each containing 12-14 teams based on UEFA's coefficients. England and other top European sides will be in Division A.
- Each division will have four mini-leagues - so England would play three or four other Division A teams on a home-and-away basis between September and November 2018.
- The winners of each mini-league go into their division's semi-finals and then final at a neutral venue in June 2019. Each division winner will qualify for Euro 2020 meaning one of the smaller nations in Division D will be guaranteed a place at the Euros.
- The remaining 20 qualification places for Euro 2020 will be decided via the usual qualifying groups in matches played from 2019, possibly going on as late as March 2020.
- Four of Europe's 13 qualifying places for the 2022 World Cup may also be decided via the top two divisions of the Nations League.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely we'll ever play friendlies again against UK national teams from 2018 since the UEFA Congress approved the new "UEFA Nations League" two weeks ago. This will replace friendlies with a rigid competition format with UEFA nations playing eachother in groups in-between Euro and World Cup qualifiers:

any idea when the squad will be announced? SA have named their travelling squad!
Emblen needs to bring in fresh blood, he has nothing to lose!
EAGAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BURFOOT!!!!!!!!!!

Objectively, I doubt Eagar or Burfoot is worth a nose or Ridenton for that manner. There are other player that a potentially worth more of a nosey than those 3. Keat, Howieson and Payne come to mind not to mention James didn't get a run in the last one.
Grumpy old bastard alert

Nevertheless I reckon Emblen will go with Burfoot in the squad all the same.

No harm in giving him a look. Might be the shop window he needs for a Nix, Victory, Heart etc contract.
South Africa Squad:
Have chose an experienced squad, with ten of the eighteen man party having ten or more caps, seven have twenty or more caps, five have fifty or more caps. Tshabalala and Parker are among SA's ten most capped players of all-time (88 and 68 caps).
SA have had poor results in competitive matches lately, not making it out of the group stage at the African Cup of Nations they hosted in January, finishing third behind Nigeria and Mali. They lost 5-0 at home to Brazil in a March friendly (a game screened here on ESPN).
Last year they were eliminated in the second round of World Cup qualifying by Ethiopia. Gives the All Whites some hope then!
Their best result of the last year was a 1-0 home win in a friendly against a strong Spain side last November:
http://www.kickoff.com/news/39125/bafana-vs-spain-international-friendly
Like NZ, not many of South Africa's squad chosen to tour Oz and NZ play for major overseas clubs (exceptions being Thulani Serero of Ajax Amsterdam - one of that club's best players who did well in the Champions League group stage this season and Kagkisho Dikgacoi of Crystal Palace - 23 EPL apps this season, ex-Fulham - total 118 EPL career apps; and Siyanda Xulu of FC Rostov, who usually finish near the bottom of the Russian Premier League) .The other four overseas players play for clubs like Oostende, Genk and Lokeren in Belgium and Bournemouth. Striker Tokelo Rantie was Bournemouth's record signing for 2.5 million pounds last year after winning the title with Malmo in sweden but hasn't been successful in England yet scoring only three goals so far this season.
However, the players who stay at home to play (in Africa's best and wealthiest league) are often pretty good such as:
South Africa's main goal-scoring threat will be Bernard Parker of Kaiser Chiefs, SA's fourth all-time leading scorer who has 23 goals from 68 internationals (including two already against NZ) and who scored seven goals for SA last year, including the winner against Spain.
"Bernard Parker had his national team debut against Malawi in 2007, scoring his first goal in 2008 against the same team. On 17 June 2009, he scored both goals in a 2–0 win over New Zealand in the 2009 Confederations Cup,[4] and also received the Man of the Match award.[5] He played in 2010 FIFA World Cup representing South Africa but the team was eliminated after group stage."

What are the chances of Leo becoming the latest player from Unattached FC to play for the All Whites?
Yellow Fever - Misery loves company
What are the chances of Leo becoming the latest player from Unattached FC to play for the All Whites?
Zip I would think. How any sensible coach would select any player that has not been playing is beyond me.

Is this a piss take. Have you ever seen the all whites play?
Who is taking the piss now?
Certainly more times than you have.

Well we certainly don't have an abundance of players to pick from.

Not having a go mate, just surprised at your certainty that we won't pick someone who hasn't been playing when we've done that reasonably frequently in the past few years.
No problem, I know we have done this before, but as I said originally, no sensible coach would do this.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
Yeah though there is a bit more leeway with this in nz due to our shallow talent pool.
As an extreme example imagine if chris wood or winston Reid hadn't been playing for a few months, we'd still pick them as he would still be significantly better than the next best option.
Allegedly

What sort of message does that send to all the other players.------ I would rather have a player give 100% than another that can't.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
The reality though is that some players' 50% is better than another's 100%.
And being unattached or in your offseason doesn't mean you're not giving 100%? It's not like they're going to start choosing not to play just because the all whites might pick them anyway.
Allegedly
