The match schedule has been released by OFC

3-18 july. 8 teams will take parte, Fiji, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, as IOC members can qualify for the next round, New Caledonia, Tahiti and Micronesia can't.

The actual draw hasn't been released yet but NZF are very unhappy about having to play five games in ten days in humid PNG.

All games in the tournie will be played in one stadium as predictably, the new second stadium has not been finished in time.

Reminscent of Honiara 2012 much?

Here is the match timetable:

Andy Martin yesterday hinted that this fiasco could be the final straw for NZ and he will lobby Sepp Blatter for NZ to leave OFC and join the Asian confed during his scheduled meeting with Blatter in the next few weeks during the u-20 World Cup.:

http://www.3news.co.nz/sport/video-nz-football-que...

"Martin also suggested he'll use a scheduled meeting with FIFA President Sepp Blatter to discuss New Zealand's place in the Oceania Confederation.

Asked if the ambitions of New Zealand Football were out of line with other Oceania members Martin said "that's where we're starting to look".

"We can't be held back by being part of a confederation where we're being pulled to the lowest common denominator." Martin said.

This after OFC decided to schedule NZ to play five games in ten days in the Olympic qualifiers / Pacific Games next month, despite NZ lobbying for a more reasonable schedule for some time....

So this is the potential Olympic team...maybe someone like Jama Boss can be given a go, a bit unpredictable but got some flair and pace...

NZ has had some bad results in PNG before (97?), so I'd be very worried about this, especially given that the men's and women's events will all be on the same surface, if not at the exact same time..

Draw unveiled

In group A Fiji and Vanuatu are already qualified to the qualifying for Rio 2016 because they share the group with Tahiti and FSM, non IOC members, what a joke

NZ to play PNG, Solomon Islands and New Caledonia

If anyone has the ability to record the men's matches from the Olympics qualifiers portion of this tournament (ideally capping 6mbps+ HD .TS, .MKV, or .MP4), please send me a PM. DVD-SP would be a second choice. I don't know what the broadcast schedule will be like there, but none of these games will be on TV in the USA.

I have a lot of matches available for trade. Thanks.

Mods: Can this thread link up with U23s Olympics thread, as it's the qualifying tournament.

NZ games July 3-12. How does this impact Nix Fiji/pre-season? Pacific games in PNG: won't get Euro-based players for this. Will Hudson call on over-age players  with plenty of Oceania experience to help the lads through. Ivan?

I thought that the overage players are only for the Olympics themselves and that in qualifying all players have to be under 23?

I'd forgotten about that but i think you're right. Slim chances of getting Tyler Boyd, Ryan Thomas, Bill Tuiloma, Jesse Edge, Marco Rojas (still 23 now but too old next year) I reckon. Tim Payne still eligible. Assume US College players ok to play. Nix players? So its U20 plus/minus a few?

Would you want Jessie Edge after his two performances so far? Likely to be dropped tonight as well!

Maybe try some of the U.S. College kids like Mohamed Awad, Mohamed Aided or Ali Nazari...some guys out of left field who have good technique...and locals with pace like Jama Boss and Herve Kadiya

Wynne has been ok-ish. He had a poor 1st 45 against Ukraine (thats all of the game I saw) but I don;t think he is the full back you drop.
