Instead of travelling to Oman/Ubekezstan (sp) - The All Whites could pencil in at least 5 Oceania based games this year.
1. vs Phoenix, 2. Auckland City, 3. ASB All Stars (NZAsb)
Why we don't have a Bledisloe vs the best Asian team - 4. Socceroos, every year is criminal and needs "Trade fixing",
Keep the Korean and Japanese trade games going if possible. (South African game was also cool "Tri Nations?"
5. Fiji - who will be looking for Olympic Games.
With trade hubs and transport/EPL access in mind.
1. Auckland/Sydney - State team or A-League Champ, or Olyroos U23 - easier to access than kasblasikstan and probably better quality.
2. Singapore - National team, U23, S-league team.
3. Tokyo - J League/Japan...
4. Dubai - Arabic team of choice. UAE are a good side.
5. London - Wales/Scots/Eng U20
= 10 games per year - how many did we play this year?
Start the year with Oceania based games and players - stand outs go to Singapore in March with European ring ins, May - into Toyko/China, Dubai and London last (Sept) as many overseas players want to attend preseason with their clubs, being in the Northern Hemisphere may help the likes of Reid and Smith, Championship teams may want a pre-season game vs All Whites - still leaves Nov.
Of course injuries and Hudson's plans about players can add and subtract personnel.
When all is said and done - All Whites fans would like a few more home games - I am sure they would want full internationals - but - it is along way to come and expensive - and we have professional clubs/Australia on our doorstep.
I believe Japan has played Auckland City as a warm up game in the past - All Whites/NZA-league should do the same.
You know how we had all that eligibility drama earlier last year?
I reckon we could play some of the Olympic teams who are going to the Olympics as warm up games, not just Fiji, but others as well, but strictly for our U-23s. Possibly use the U-23s to play championship teams for pre-season, but only U-23s, and the rest of the windows can focus on the national team.
I know funds and that come into it, but I think the All Whites would need to be playing 2 international games per window now. I only say this because Hudson has had enough time in camp shaping the squad and that.
We are approaching the Oceania Nations cup, so its all about match time as the games will be like literally two whole days between each other. Something our All Whites aren't exactly used to considering back in November 2014, they played well against China, but completely lost the plot against Thailand.
Obviously in preparation for the OFC Nations cup, Hudson would be looking at playing Oceania opposition.
I reckon in the March window, we could have two games, one possibly against a team from the another region and one against and Island team at home. Then before the Nations cup, maybe if NZFootball can, they could fit in another game against one of the Island teams. I know this is outside the international window, but we managed to do this before the Horror in Honiara. Two games just before the nations cup 2012 against Honduras and El Salvador.
But yeah, I like the idea of all the options provided as those teams would be looking for games, but I reckon if they are not Senior Men International sides, those should be delegated to our U-23s to play. The rest of the windows can be looked upon for the Senior Mens side.
That way people will stop complaining about Hudson picking kids as they would have some decent international experience, but not full.
