But EVERY football team plays in an alternative strip, sometimes as much as twice a week, so I don’t necessarily put a correlation on that point of view. Liverpool are the Reds but how often do you see them playing in a different colour? I am not attacking you, just making the point.
I can understand it but fudge it has never caused an issue before and surely you would only consider doing it as an organisation if you had arranged a game?
Considering they couldn’t even manage that pre COVID, god knows why they are discussing this now.
I think it's a kinda stupid nickname, and has racist connotations even though they're not at all intentional, and so NZF at least shouldn't use it for marketing etc. Fans/media/whoever can still call the team whatever they like.
I don't think NZF or anyone else can manufacture a replacement nickname so even if NZF stops marketing the team as the All Whites it will stick around as a nickname unless something else comes along - which is unlikely given we never play a game.
The best I have come up with is Phantom Ferns - again, not easy to manufacture these things.

Also, it's only the rich English and Spanish clubs playing up, players in England's lower divisions from red countries are still going. As things stand, it would only be Woodsie who would be unavailable from this side of the world.
Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar are all on the UK's amber list at present. New Zealand won't be playing Oman, who have AFC World Cup qualifying to be getting on with.

Thanks AV. Any rumours on a game(s)?
If can't make it work with any AFC teams, whatabout heading Stateside for a CONCACAF team(s) that didn't make final stage WC qualifying, eg Trindad & Tobago, Guatemala etc. Though might be hard for people from those types of countries to now enter the US. Someone like T & T could probably assemble a reasonably handy side, just from players they have across the UK leagues, so a game at Craven Cottage or similar.
Plus when is the intercontinental playoff draw going to done? From memory is usually done at least a year out from the games??

If you get rid of the nickname "All Whites", You have to get rid of the "All Blacks" too. You can't ban one without banning the other. Whilst at it, give the frigging "Rainbow" back to the Leprechauns too, I want my pot of gold. Until a recent development hijacked the name that caters for only a select group of people.
This "Woke", "PC" crap is really doing my head in. All Whites because of their Kit. End of. All Blacks is now because of their Kit, end of. Even it it started with a typo error intending "All Backs" because of their style of play back at the turn of last century.
Totally agree LG can't even open our mouths these day without offending anyone. They are the All Whites and always will be, this woke society is doing my head in too, and the government ain't making it any better with the proposed hate speech law, that's if Faifoa and this lame duck administration can achieve something they haven't been able to do previously ie kiwis build etc
Your lame Duck political Party is an even bigger joke. An MP that gets his dick out takes a photo of it and sends it to young girls, Another MP who distributes confidential information given to him by a former President of the National Party to stir up the red necks in his electorate, Southland. A National Party candidate in North Harbour who was a sex fend and to top it off Crusher Collins who picks on overweight people when she is a porker. I suppose in your terms all that is Woke?
Where did that come from?? No one was talking about political parties. This is a PC argument involving football, the NZF and the wider implications should the All Whites lose their unofficial and to some extent, "official" name and other sports teams. And yes, Leeds United are also known as "The Lillywhites" in direct reference to their playing kit.
Should just ask Wood, Reid and Thomas what they think. On the player side of things with McCowatt, Garbett and Sarpreet playing in Europe we have the emergence of some depth in our 10s, alongside Joe Bell or Thomas play making from a little deeper. Our wide players with Just, Kosta, Rojas, Cacace, Champness, Elliot, Sutton and McGarry definitely can chip in. It’s a very exciting time.
Only thing is we’re missing is an obvious back up for Chris Wood. That World Cup team had Wood benched with Smeltz, Fallon and Killen. Four quality goal scorers. Stunning depth really.
But in terms of our ability to keep the ball and make play this has to be a bit of a golden age. We just need everyone to stay fit and for Kosta, McCowatt and Sarpreet to chip in regularly. With the level of service, perhaps even a striker playing at a lower level, but with a bit of experience like Watto or similar might be able to fill their boots. Who am I missing? Oh, right Ben Waine! Hope he can go up a gear this season. Don’t feel like he understudies Wood just yet though. Needs a couple of seasons of consistent returns under his belt and a decent move hopefully. How far off the pace are guys like Rogerson and Stevens? And Mata? And Old could have a break out season. Fenton might be second choice, but did play a lot of professional football last season and should have been awarded the pen to take the Nix to finals footie.
I think it’s fairly obvious that we’re a relatively inclusive and diverse football team and country. I can’t speak for everyone’s experiences, but the All Whites name has some proud history of its own now separate from any ABs derivation. Can’t really get behind the Black Caps name- it’s new squeaky and feels a bit forced. It’s an example of how top down, marketing created names are a bit hollow. The All Whites though is okay with me. Can also be New Zealand or the New Zealand football team. Just get us playing some games once things open up a bit yeh??
Looks about pretty much right, though a pretty strong weighting to the Olympics, which was an age group tourney after all. I'd get Tuiloma to almost swap places with Stensness (2 similar players), and drop off Garbett (will be playing boys football for awhile ahead) for Marinovic or Tzanev. I'd also say on consistent, low error rate form, Sail is the no 1 keeper, not Woud. Pijnaker is also yet to play a competitive game for Rio Ave, so is he ahead of someone like Collier, Waine, or Smith??
But overall by NZ football standards it's a very strong looking list, and a nice one to debate. Though only one LB, and no specialist RB.
Thanks Coochiee, good comments. The next 3 on the list (which would make up my 23 man squad) are Ingham, McGarry and Marinovic. The top 11 here are my best starting 11. I was super impressed with Stensness for CCM and the OlyWhites. I think his future may be at CB, maybe alongside Pijnaker post 2022. I’d play Payne at RB right now. I think he’s a better bet than Ingham, but Billingsley is bubbling under. Future is bright; I had no trouble finding 50 and leaving out some reasonable players (Bevan, Old, Dyer, Paulsen). coochiee

Depends which Clayton Lewis shows up - is it the one who had a fantastic season for the Phoenix and embedded himself in the first XI, or is it the one that struggled to pass5 yards at time in the Olympics.
I think he's got a big future ahead of him, for the Nix and All Whites (assuming they play a game at some point)
I follow the Dons (real Dons, not Franchise), and Tzanev is a great keeper, but our very best? He has a few too many "brain explosions" for my liking. Marinovic is steadier.

I bring to your attention, m'lud, in the case against Marinovic; example A - NZ vs Peru (entire match)

He kept a clean sheet in that game gotta give him some credit, had a mix up with Reid (and recovered) but you could blame Reid as well. Everyone has seen the highs/lows of Woud, Marinovic and Sail but less so Tzanev, so wouldn’t surprise me if he’s underrated/overrated as a result. Sail is probably out of running for any NZ squad until at least the March window though, so it’d be the three European based getting picked anyway.
I see there is an article locked away behind the NZH paywall that we're looking at up to four matches in October/November windows in Europe or the Middle East.
Anyone that pays for it wanna give us a rundown? Also, how likely is it that we will hear anything concrete out of this?
Any news on when we're playing next? I see there is an article in the NZH that we're looking at up to four matches in October/November windows
Lets all hope so. Some good news would be welcome. And kudos to NZF if they pull it off.
An update on mooted Jan 2022 OFC tourney would also be welcome. Could be a European Xmas for Hay and other NZ staffers. No point coming home to do 2 weeks MIQ, then heading back up north again soon after.

It's essentially the same information that has been around since early August.
They're working on securing matches in the Middle East and Europe in the October (4th-12th) and November (8th-16th) windows.
Every European team is fully booked with World Cup qualifying, Nations League semifinals/finals, or friendlies v Qatar in October. That means Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and maybe Uzbekistan (not really Middle East) are likely to be the options on the table there. Bahrain and Jordan have the Fifa Arab Cup on the cards in December so will be keen for matches – they are both playing Haiti in this week's window as well as each other.
Five European nations are available in November. Czech Republic (Euro 2020 quarterfinalists) and Kosovo in the first half of the window; Georgia, Kazakhstan and Lithuania in the second half. Fairly slim pickings – but it means those countries also have few options and New Zealand would appeal as something different. The same Middle East/Asian nations are available here too – Jordan is playing in Belarus in the second half of the window.
Hopefully not far away from details on World Cup qualifying in January being firmed up either. Imagine it would line up with the already-scheduled window in place from January 24 to February 1, so there would be a significant period of time between the end of the November window and any departure for WCQ in which staff could return for Christmas (MIQ pending).
Think NZF would be more keen on that OFC tourney early Jan, when most Euro leagues (apart from England) are on some sort of winter break, so good chance of getting a strong squad together. By end of Jan/early Feb some leagues (Germany, Holland, Belgium etc) are back up and playing.
Also think UEFA have decided not to recognise that Jan 24th-Feb 1st window. So could lead to real complications securing a close to full strength team, ie club verus country.
