Rumoured to have a friendly against Jordan on 20th June, to be played in Austria.

I'm going to be in Italy at that time!! Could be awesome

Jordan also playing a friendly against Serbia on 16th June, again in Austria. Serbia have a Euro Qualifier on the 20th June away to Bulgaria, but wonder if we are also lining up a friendly with the Serbs 12/13th June?

Alternatively, both Poland and Sweden only have one Euro Qualifier scheduled in the June window and are free on 16/17th June. Possible?

That 1-0 win over Serbia in the lead up to our historic WC run is still one of our greatest ever victories.

I went to a NZ v China basketball game in Auckland not too many years ago and the place was packed with very loud and passionate Chinese fans.

Any reason why this game isn’t at Eden park?

Would be bookended by two Blues games both at EP (Crusaders 18th March & Western Force 26th March) - so maybe NZF did the maths and not worth the extra costs they'd be charged for removing rugby posts/markings and then reinstalling same. Something like that.

Yes Auckland has a large Chinese community, but how many of them are football fans? Making money seems more their recreation of choice.

Was Yao Ming playing? He made the NBA very popular in China, and is way more famous than any Chinese footballer

Do the pre-2010–amalgamation local-government boundaries cover north, west, central, south with North Shore, Waitakere, Auckland City, Manukau?

Not precisely, since due to historical accident Otahuhu was in Auckland City

I'm guessing the question was "What do you bring to the job/role?"
Continuity na dknowledge of the players is good, but he doesnt exactly souind confident of him or the squad proving anything. I really hate the word "hope" in these kind of interviews. I want to hear confidence that he has a plan abd that he thinks the squad can/will perform well under his guidance. He may only be in the role for a few weeks but he's been around for aages and must have an idea how he wants things to look.

I'd rather live in Napier and their stadium has a nice atmosphere about it. The best thing the NZF could do is move out of Auckland, away from the internal politics of who has the bigger football. Time to start being true professionals as administrators and organizers. Let's be honest, That the standing joke about the "Fax Machine" is still alive and valid suggests that nothing has changed in over 30+ years.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

If not, happy to have a go...since I'll be around Austria at that time anyway...
I've got my Youth level A badge....and I've played my whole life and coached at senior level here and there...I could hardly do much worse than Schmidt or Huddo. Also, I'm pretty cheap...just pay for my trip to Italy and I'm your guy

Away fixture against Sweden locked in for the June window. I always felt this was a long time coming for us, with the amount of nz talent that has been honing their craft on Scandinavian shores lately. I know it's only friendlies on the horizon for the next wee while but very stoked we are going to get a crack against quality opposition.

Should be a great game that. A very good test for the team. Can't wait for it.

Hopefully we have a coach by then.

was going to come home for the WWC in June but given how terrible the team is looking, I think I'll stay in Europe and go see this.  More chance of a win then the Ferns have (even though both teams are struggling for goals).

Womens World Cup begins mid-July. Why not both?

Don't just watch the Ferns ofc go see some good teams too 😂 I'm seeing Japan, Netherlands, Portugal and the semifinal!

Might have a coach by then. Lost to them 3-1 last January in UAE.

Optimistically might be a chance of a friendly against Sweden around the same time. They travel to Austria for a EC qualifier in June, but being in a 5 team group, the Swedes have the bye in the 1st round of that two round June window. AWs are often pseudo Australia why not Austria.

https://us.soccerway.com/international/europe/european-championship-qualification/2024/qualifying-round/group-f/g17054/

Edit - you make enough guesses you get one right! Though I had thought the game maybe in Austria, in light of the rumoured Jordan Match there in June.

And well done NZF. Early days but so far Pragnell being true to his word of AWs games all the FIFA windows (bar OFC Olympics qualifying in Sept window) of 2023.

Sweden game is 16th June, which matches first round Euros (EC) qualifiers in June. Teams with a bye in June 2nd round (so 2nd possible AWs game) are either mostly involved in Euro Nations League playoffs, or already committed to friendlies. Limited options.

The only European team I can see currently not committed around that time is Azerbaijan, who are also in Sweden's EC qualifying group. So is going to be either them or presumably a non Euro team like the rumoured Jordan for a 2nd AWs game.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/nz-teams/131390448/all-whites-lock-in-highprofile-friendly-against-sweden-in-stockholm-in-june

It is likely to be the first of several matches New Zealand’s 105th-ranked national men’s football team will play in Europe this year.

The Jordan Football Association has announced a match against the All Whites in Austria on June 20, but NZ Football is yet to confirm that fixture.

More matches in Europe are on the cards for the team in October and November, as they seek to play opponents who have byes during Euro 2024 qualifying.

They won’t play in the September international window, as it clashes with the Oly Whites’ qualifying campaign for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Friends Arena, where the Sweden game is going to be played, was also where Ibrahimovic scored that insane long-range bicycle kick against England.
The ground is also the home of Stockholm/Solna powerhouses and twelve-time Allsvenskan champions AIK. Among their alumni include academy-boy and favourite son Alexander Isak who joined at age six and went on to become their youngest Allsvenskan goal-scorer - before eventually replacing Chris Wood at Newcastle. Possible other former AIK players in their squad could be Robin Quaison (Al Ettifaq - Saudi), Kristoffer Olsson (Midtjylland) and Isak Hien (Hellas Verona - Serie A). To go alongside their on-field success, they have gained a bit of a reputation for releasing very nice limited-edition kits, such as this one released last month, earning themselves the moniker of 'The Most Stylish Club in the World.'

Unfortunately, Francis de Vries was injured for IFK's visit to the Friends Arena in last year's Allsvenskan, so missed their 2-2 draw. Matt Garbett, during his season in the Allsvenskan at Falkenberg in 2020, was also absent for their trip to the Friends. Both featured in the matchday squads for the respective home matches however. To get the last New Zealander to play a competitive match at the Arena, you have to go back to the 19th of February 2017, when then-Superettan Gothenburg-based club GAIS went down 1-0 to AIK in a Svenska Cupen group-stage match. GAIS were captained by former Phoenix defender and 17-cap All White Steven Old that day, whilst Dan Keat - who was also at GAIS that season - was not in the matchday squad.

Bit gutted as we go back to Italy from a Denmark/Sweden trip 3 days before the AWs game! Wife said we might be able to extend our stay but not sure we can make that work. Besides on the same day there is San Marino v Kazakhstan so I might make the trip up to the Most Serene Republic to watch one of my favourite teams play live for the first time. Hopefully the Jordan game does happen as I might make that work

Well done to NZF indeed. I think 0-3 or 1-3 to Sweden but finally some good organization.

Oh & I think Germany maybe available in June!!

Not involved in Euros qualifying as hosts. They bet Peru 2-0 overnight.

Still no confirmation on the Jordan fixture showing on the RoonBa website for 20th June. Maybe NZ holding out for something better?

Kind of gutted we didn't push for an invite to this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup. With the newly established links with OFC, maybe the OFC winner could qualify for the Gold Cup as guests. Qatar are guests again this time around where previously teams such as Korea, Brazil u23, Peru and Colombia have guested.

Would be a great tournament for our young team to test themselves and acclimatise ahead of the next WC.

English based All Whites fan! Would love to watch an All White game one day.

Qatar being at the Gold Cup, is surely a thanks to all those dodgy CONCACAF delegates who helped them win their WC bid. Without our own Chuck Blazer, hard to get those invites.

[Edit: It has been pointed out we already have Sweden that window and possibly Jordan. So guess its fake news]

As with this guy below. FIFA window dates 12th-20th June. Swedish game is 17th June, so presumably Uruguay would need to be earlier in the window.

You ain't going to bring the AWs squad (mostly Europe based these days) downunder for 1 game then fly them all back to Stockholm. That would be pretty dumb.

Also Socceroos would need to have another team lined to play in Australia, to generously 'give us' one game against the Uruguayans. More likely is just two Socceroos v Uruguay matches.
