Hopefully likes of Clegg, get some good mins in these games.

Games are only 2-3 weeks prior Nix's first ALW game (15th Oct) so bit of a disruption for Temple losing 4? players for a week or so.

Interesting to crunch the numbers:
4 from the Nix
4 from other A-League teams
2 from the US
2 unattached
12 from Europe (4 England, 3 Denmark, 1 each from Italy, Iceland, Finland, Scotland and the Netherlands)

I wonder how that compares to 12 years ago, when I assume it would be overwhelmingly domestic league. US and Australia

As a wild guess I'd say the number of pro leagues for women would have doubled in the last 12 years. At least for leagues where the players can now earn a living decent enough to be a full time pro.

Be interesting to know what mum & NZF employee Longo's plans are.

Yes surely Longo needs to be playing regularly at a decent level to
1. Properly complete recovery from her ACL injury.
2. Be match sharp to be available for Olympic selection next year.

And Liv Chance unattached but severed ties with Celtic, presumably due to her knee not having repaired itself enough? Why risk doing more damage then? Either it gets worse, or she is back in the shop window to prove her fitness and show what she can do. She would be great in the ALeague.

Is the first game being televised?

Given the success of the WWC, I'm sure NZF are trying their best to make sure Game 1 is televised. But yeah Game 2 is strangely behind closed doors - something the Chileans requested apparently.

Can we score goals against Chile. Be very disappointing if we don't.
Plenty of Kiwi goal scorers in the ALW this year. Can someone outside the current ferns squad have a blinder season and push for a starting spot for Olympics next year.

Incumbent forwards. Playing A league this season
Wilkinson.  Mel City
Jale. Perth Glory
Clegg. WSW
(Rennie, IP-Riley, Satchell playing overseas)

Fringe A league forwards.
Brown. Nix
Blake. Adelaide
Jackson. Canberra
Nathan. Canberra

A good A league season. 10+ goals and you'd be in line for ferns squad selection ?. Plenty to play for this season.
PS. Chance still unattached also.

Interesting that Marco Rojas is now visibly a very strong advocate for women's football. Influenced by his time in Chile??

https://twitter.com/NZ_Football/status/1705495962024817050

La Roja Femenina are ranked 41 by FIFA and have a new coach in Luis Mena taking the team for just the second time.

A technical team, largely built from powerhouse
local club Colo-Colo with the addition of a few star players based in Europe, the Chileans should offer a real test, especially with home advantage at Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida.

Likely Team:
Klimková confirmed at the pre-match press conference that
because of a number of the squad being in preseason, it is likely that certain players would have their playing minutes limited, meaning that the substitutes could play a significant role on Sunday.

Opposition Player to Watch: Christiane Endler
Having a new head coach makes it difficult to predict a starting line-up, but there is no doubt that the first name on the team sheet is Champions League-winning Lyon goalkeeper, and Chile captain, Christiane Endler.

98-cap Endler is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world so finding a way past her will be the biggest challenge for the Ferns on Sunday.

I'm just watching the replay of Nix Reserves v Auckland City from yesterday on FIFA+ website.
I had a lot of lagging until I clicked on the cog (options) symbol at the top right and changed the quality to "SD" from the default "HD+"
Now the video is playing perfectly.
See if that works for you if you have problems streaming the Ferns game in a few minutes from now.....

Rennie Wilkinson and Satchel are not the answer to our goal scoring woes if we want a more technical attack.
Good crowd there. Why would they play 2nd game behind closed doors.

So far we have looked the better team. I wonder if the behind closed doors game is so the younger players can get a decent run without any pressure

These kind of performances confirm my opinion that Klimkova should have been sacked last year.
Hopeless coach at senior international level.
When a coach just isn't up to it, they have to go....
Losing to the Philippines at the World Cup alone should have cost her her job...
German men's team were going nowhere under Flick so they sacked him a few weeks ago.
We need to get a bit tough like the Germans and make these kinds of decisions......
You could also say the players aren't up to it but I think we could be making better use of the players we have and in my opinion it's the coach who needs changing.

Agreed, Klimkova needs to go. Should've been sacked long before the world cup imo.

The quality of our players doesn't help but tactically we're woeful.

Too casual for the first 30 minutes by us. Last 15min we played with better urgency and ball speed. Players like Bott guilty of trying to do too much with the ball in defence and ultimately turning it over.
Only glimpses from our forwards. IP Riley doing Ok. Rennie better towards the end. Would like to see Jale, Clegg and Longo come on at half time.

With the streaming, it's nice not having the match interrupted by ads every seven minutes or so like you get on You Tube.
The only ads I got were at half-time.
So I'm positive about the FIFA+ streaming.
