So no Klimkova or her assistant so we bring in NL to asisst the only assistant left. Something smells a bit off here.

Fitrst choice assistant Keri Sarver is basically Klimkova's mate, so not that surprising she's also on indefinite gardening leave so to speak.

I actually miss read the Stuff article. Lawerence has been brought in as the new assistant. Existing 2nd assistant Michael Mayne is now the interim head coach.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/350293424/football-ferns-bring-former-phoenix-coach-natalie-lawrence-amid-silence-jitka

She (Sarver) has been replaced by former Wellington Phoenix coach Natalie Lawrence, who has been called in to assist the Football Ferns’ other assistant Michael Mayne. Mayne will oversee the two fixtures in Klimková’s absence.

Sarver has been a part of Klimková’s coaching staff since her first tour as Football Ferns coach in 2022.

They had previously worked together when Klimková coached the United States’ under-19 and under-20 teams and Klimková also spent a two-year stint at Internationals, a youth club in Ohio run by Sarver.

No explanation was provided for Sarver’s absence.

New article from Burgess, says little, other than his inference that it must be serious.

I guess it is heartening that there has been nothing in the way of leaks? NZF displaying some sort of competency.

Where you see competency some see secrecy!,
It's good they are dealing with whatever the issue is seemingly quickly, but this has the feel of something that has been brewing for a long time and finally been "dealt" with.

Poor performance?
If her wins record was my KPIs at work, I'd have lost my job yonks ago.

It may well be due to the lack of wins during her tenure, but you dont get a coach and assistant taking time off during a sacking for bad performances, this feels more like a player revoult, loss of confidence in the coaching - which is probably a result of poor performance, but not driven by NZF. NZF will be responding to the player group demanding better coaching.

actually funnily enough, Burgess says in his article that NZF staff he presumably talked to/asked about this didn't see this coming and weren't expecting it. So whatever it is it hasn't been a widely known about issue within NZF for a while or anything like that

didnt see it coming/not expecting it = blindsided = incompetency.

Lol I'm not really arguing that NZF are competent, my comment about no leaks being heartening was light hearted, looking for a silver lining etc. But for all we know this is a brand new issue, not a can that has been kicked down the road & blown up at an inopportune time. We will no doubt find out soon enough.

Sounds like Fraser got to Spain for a few days training, only then to need to leave.
Michael Mayne is a youngest coach from Hamilton? He might end up being an Olympics interim head coach!

Stoked to see a Waikato lad in the role. I hope the ladies do well today and in the short time he's been there, has been able to produce something worth watching.

So at the moment the Ferns don't seem to be scheduled for any more matches until the Olympics, but surely they will play a couple of friendlies in the weeks leading up to the tournament right?
