What do we know about this guy? Can he play wingback? Has he got the engine?

He was decent against Iraq wasn't he?

Three for me, and two for them.

Played CB against TeeDubs for the Phoenix last week, looked solid.  I reckon if we lost Manny or Lochy long term he'd be in the Phoenix squad quick smart.

Because we don't need him and from an All Whites point of view he's better off playing NZFC than not playing for the Phoenix ?

My questions is why if Ricky is talking about Scott as his preferred RB option for the AWs, ahead of Mully, do we even have Mully in the squad? Surely better to release him and open up the number or is he on fair coin and wouldn't be much point in releasing him?

If Ricki thinks Aaron Scott is a better player then surely he should be in our squad.

It's a balance though, if you were to release Mully you have to pay him out which is still going to come off the cap.  You may as well keep him here so that if an injury occurs you have the numbers.

Spending for a 2nd person is probably not the best use of money.

Mulligan is a useful utility player; he can play in midfield as well as left or right back.
With Christie gone, the Nix have nobody else like this.

Well we do have quite a few midfielders and a few of them their contracts expire at the end of this season. Aaron Scott could get the call up then, seems like a decent player that is versatile across the defence.

Aaron Scott is the next NZFC player to step up into A-league following after Roja and Siggy. From what I seen so far of him, he is much better than Mully and more than equal to what Manny can to. Mully is definitely kept for the midfield cover where he plays best in.

To be fair, although Mully has been out of sorts as RB, it is a step up in a position that he does not specialise in. He is the shortest guy in the AW squad and will be much better used as a holding midfielder. People forget how well he played in the midfield during the Oceania's WCQ and was outshining Brown as a box to box midfielder as he wasn't in the best physical shape either.

Really? I don't remember this. And I watched all the games televised (+ the Vanuatu game at RoF).

I agree, everyone pans Mully as a RB but that is definately not his best position.  He never played there in his time in the UK, he was always a center mid or right winger

Wrong. Mulligan spent most of his career in England as a right fullback.
