This is mainly a U20 tournament as a early preparation for the World U20 championship and the next olympics. They allow overagers like they do in the olympics, to help blood them. But there is no overagers for the U20 World championship.

Here's a bit of history FYI.

Back on October 2006, this is the named squad;

Team Wellington midfielder Andy Barron will skipper New Zealand A at next weeks Agribank Cup tournament in Vietnam after the late withdrawal of captain Tim Brown.

New Zealand
 Goalkeepers: Mark Paston (New Zealand Knights), Jacob Spoonley (East Coast Bays).
- Defenders: Ian Hogg, Phil Edginton (both Hawkes Bay United), Jack Pelter (Canterbury United), Sam Peters (Team Wellington), Cole Peverley, James Pritchett, Michael Boxall (all Auckland City).
- Midfielders: Andy Barron (captain, Team Wellington), Chris James (Fulham FC), Leo Shin (Hawkes Bay United), Shaun Van Rooyen (YoungHeart Manawatu), Jeff Fleming (Green Gully, Australia).
- Forwards: Jeremy Brockie (Sydney FC), Sam Jenkins (Hawkes Bay United), Michael White (NZ Knights), Nick Roydhouse (YoungHeart Manawatu), Michael Gwyther (Waitakere United).

Management: Stu Jacobs (coach), Paul Probert (Assistant coach), Jonathan Gould (Goalkeeping coach), Derek Young (Physiotherapist), James Hogg (Manager).

It's interesting how thing progress, isn't it?
