Who would you select if everyone was avaliable?

I'd be tempted (without giving it much thought) with something like

Mossy/Pastie (not sure yet)

Oughton /Nelsen/Vicelich/Lochead
        Elliott/Brown/Barron
        James/Killen/Smeltz

Subs:
Boyens
Bertos
Christie

yours..

Bertos and James to play high up, almost as a 4 - 3 - 3 type formation.

right back for scungethorpe, although he was sitting on wood this morning.  he also covers right mid and centre mid for them occasionally.

Has the Elliott and Vicelich thing ever worked ?

Both great players but they play the same role and the two of them on the same side seemed to leave us short of attacking punch.  Has Ivan found a club or is he still at Waalwijk ?

If the two of them sit in front of the defence it'd free up oue wingers and an advanced mid to join the attack. Other options I guess would be the play Ivan alongside Ryan in Def - do we then add another striker or keep a 5 man midfield - if we do that who else do we play in the middle?

I would go for a 442 attacking formation, we always look better when we try to attack and not sit back.

I agree. It seems such a harsh thing and a waste that Rory can't play at international level for Nz. Maybe he is still waiting for the Enlgand call up? That was what screwed him in the first place. He just made the wrong choice.

It would make more sense to have Rory in the NZ team than Daniel. Thats taking the piss a little if that happened.

Yeah it would be good to see Fallon playing for NZ. Chris...If Pelter hadn't got a trial at Sunderland  would you have even thought about putting him in their?? Apart from that I like your team...Boyens and Vicelich would be a close run thing every game I would imagine. I would probably have Duncan Oughton in there as well, I think he is a good defender/midfielder and would provide good cover off the bench.

This is quite different from other peoples thinking but I belive that this would formation would work in with Ricki's attack mindedness without leaving us too weak in defence.  Both Kris and Leo would be wingers.
As for Rory I too would love him to play for us (scored a great goal for Plymouth in the weekend) but he put his cards in with England so...

I thought he would be worth having in the squad as a sub. But only if he signs with a good club and gains the experience and high level of training there. My selection of him is based on the fact that I think he is a bit more solid and quicker than Boyens. I think Nelsen would work better with someone like Pelter than Boyens. Pelter would be like a pit bull terrior. Nelsen would release him on this player and that player then put him back on his leash. Boyens would be a bit like releasing a great dane or St Bernard who would gallop around the pitch. lol

But seriously, I have selected Pelter based on him training with Sunderland over the next couple of months assuming his contract gets signed. Getting him involved in the WCQ against the island teams and build him up to be ready for the 5th place playoff. Where he would have been training with Sunderland for a year. If he doesn't get into at least a Championship side, then I would just go with scooby doo..I mean Boyens as the sub.
Also I just thought, I might add Michael White to my squad. He seems to be on form at the moment. A midfielder who can score goals is a bonus.

What about that Winston Reid dude. Does anyone know anything about him?

Its no longer a problem.

He was on the cover of Soccer Talk a couple of months back with McGlinchey of Celtic.  At this stage he's tied to Denmark but hopefully he'll declare for us at some point.  Centre back, back in the first team for Midtjylland in the last few weeks as well.

I know the article said he was being watched closely by Everton.

I had plans to start a web campaign to convince the likes of Reid, McGlinchey, and Tommy Smith to decalre for NZ but have run out of time.

How old was Winston when he moved to Denmark? Surely he would still think of himself as a kiwi.
He probably is playing for Denmark because the opportunity is right in front of him at the youth level. Hopefully he will declare himself a kiwi before it is too late. If he signs with a top club he is not really going to need Denmark anymore to lift his profile. Besides he would hardly ever have to play for the All Whites. So will have more time to give to his club.

Start the campaign Hard News.

Graham Seatter here - just thought I'd give some clarity re the eligibility and prospects for some of the "non-NZ-eligible" players recently been discussed in this forum. Rory Fallon cannot ever be available for NZ. On introduction of the rule which allows players with dual nationality to "switch" their allegiance before their 21st birthday, there was a 12 month period (i.e. 2004) granted for players over 21 years to make that change. That was Rory's opportunity, but he did not take it. The door is now fully and permanently closed. Interestingly Tim Cahill switched to Australia at this time. Winston Reid has more than two years to make his decision. I have met with him in Denmark, and currently he believes that the additional developmental work he gets as a member of the Denmark Under 19 team is beneficial - if he switched to NZ, that oppportunity would disappear. I think that is the right call for him. His long-term decision will depend on a number of factors. We are in contact with him. He is a quality player, and Denmark realise that. Michael McGlinchey has until his 21st birthday in January to make up his mind. He is considering the matter, and is probably about a 50:50 call at present. We are in regular contact with him, and he fully understands the NZ opportunity - Olympics, Confederation Cup, and better World Cup chance than with Scotland, although their recent win over France may give a different view on that. Our new high performance manager, Rob Sherman, watched Michael play for Scotland in the recent U20 World Cup in Canada, and confirmed that Michael is quality. Tommy Smith is still U17, so he has 3-4 years to make hsi decision.

Cheers Graeme

It's good to see that every effort is being made to get our dual nationals on board.  It's also good to see that we haven't been so cheap as to do an Israel and seek to recruit Argentinians.

It's a pity that Rory Fallon didn't take his chance while he had it.  I guess I shouldn't ask you why he didn't?!?

I was wondering if anyone had scouted Mikhail Brindeveldt and Darren White at Hansa Rostock?

i was looking at the all white squad on

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand_national_football_team#Current_squad

there were a few young players some1 mentioned a couple before but i had not seen or heard of before, wondering if any1 knew more about them.
Sitivi Liva plays for valencia
Michael McGlinchey plays for celtic
Winston Reid plays for FC Midtjylland
2 of them are born in 1988 and 1 in 1987 so they are quite young, and with jack pelter playing for sunderland and with chris james and jeremy brockie nz has a few quality young players

Darren White is playing in Germany, he is not able to play for NZ at present because he only holds a British Passport and NZ Immigration declined his application for Citizenship when he was selected for the NZ Under 20's.  He has been living in NZ for 18 yrs but the last 4 years has been in Germany.

Pity he is a good player and All Whites would benefit.  Have heard he is going to apply again when he comes back to NZ for a break
