All White On The Night event, Friday 13th

Hi,

just wondering if anyone would attend, or be interested in helping organise an All Whites speaking event for Friday November 13th?

Perhaps we could get some of the 82 All Whites and John Adshead, Wynton Rufer - whoever else is keen and has the credentials - to speak at a public location in Wellington.
E.g. a Vic Uni lecture theatre.
Might look at doing it at a bar.

Could show clips of 82 on a big screen, have speeches and a Q + A session.

At this stage I would not be planning on charging for it.

I would be happy to organise it.

If we could get 300 people to turn up that would probably make it worthwhile.

Yep, I'm in town Friday and would be keen on this. Obviously anytime works for me since I have the day off.

Is that the day before the actual game?  If so I'd try to make it.  Travelling up from Christchurch, though, and staying with a family who live quite far away so it really depends on whether or not they're willing to drop me off/point me in the right direction.

Its a great concept! Who would it be aimed at? Because if you did it earlier it could perhaps create a bigger buzz to boost sales. However it would be better for people travelling foir the game

great idea. if planning on using Vic you may want to get onto it asap as it is during our exam period

Alternatively this could happen on the day of the match, Sat 14, at 5pm or so (but finish maybe 90 minutes before kickoff)

Team Wellington playing at 15:00 at Newtown would limit access for many (some).

On gameday, the pub would be a limiting factor too I'd imagine.

Who are TW playing? If it's AK City I might go make a clown out of myself. If not then I will be securing a prime spot at the Back Bencher early in the day.

It's swings and roundabouts, as some potential speakers and audience members are not travelling to Wellington until the Saturday.
I will try for the Friday though.

Aim for Friday Bevan- Game day will be all about hype and alcohol, noone will have the attentions span to sit in ona lecture, least of all the NZF VIPS

I'm not averse to some alcohol at the event, I'm hoping to have a few laughs in it. Lecture was probably the wrong word; am now hoping to have it at a bar.

If anyone has contact details of people they think will make good speakers (e.g. former/recent All Whites, maybe someone from the Phoenix too), or if anyone wants to speak themselves, please PM me with details.

if you reduced the numbers the backbencher has function rooms upstairs that might fit the bill. we would waive room hire and staff costs.

Another idea is to turn this into a charity auction.
Does anyone have anything AW-related they would be prepared to give away for an auction?

Alternatively, you could sell it with a nominated reserve price.

- charity as yet undecided; might look for one with a football connection.
