"G'olé! FIFA Official Film of the 1982 World Cup" -

Which screened on ESPN Tuesday 6 am was great stuff.

Amazing to see Frank van Hattum feature in the opening credits (footage of him vs. USSR in 3-0 defeat berating his defence etc. and contrasting with the ice cold Schoemacher ,the German goalie in another match)

Good seven minute sequence of behind-the-scenes with the All Whites vs. USSR and match footage. Nice to relive the chances we created in that match - had a few shots on target and the USSR goalie had to deal with the odd attempt. Unfortunately, as Sean Connery narrates, he was the best Soviet goalkeeper since the legendary Yashin.

Nice as a tribute to Duncan Cole too who can be seen a lot in the NZ footage.

Respectful commentary by Sean Connery on the All Whites giving them credit for their 70,000 mile trip in qualifying games and giving it all in the Finals.

Love the comment about the Scotland v Brazil game - "The team who thought they were the best in the world playing the team who knew they were the best." What a great Scotland side that was though - so many of the biggest names in the English top flight a the time (Dalglish, Souness, Archibald, Wark, Strachan, Hansen, Brazil, Robertson, Hartford, Jordan).

And Brazil weren't bad either!

Loved the slowed-down match footage with Rick Wakeman's ("Yes" group) prog rock soundtrack.
