All Whites friendlies against Fiji

I was just on the fifa website looking at information about NZ football when I saw that the All Whites apparently have two friendlies against Fiji organised that are to be played on the 8th and the 11th of August. I hadn't heard anything about these matches before, and was wondering if anybody could confirm if the All Whites really are playing these games, and if so, where are they being played.

The link to the fifa page with this information on it is:

I am surprised you haven't seen all the media build-up and hype around the game.

You must have had your eyes closed for the last 4 months.

Oops. Sorry. There has been no build-up. Does the game exist? Can't see it mentioned too many times on the NZsoccer website. They don't even have an obvious fixtures list on their screen and past resutls like FIFA.

It has been on the FIFA website for about 4 months or more.

It is scheduled to be played in Fiji as their name appears first. So it is a home game for Fiji.

I think fiji are using it as a build up to the South Pacific Games starting on 25th of August:

"Let the battle for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa commence. Oceania will get the ball rolling and kick off the qualifiers for the most prestigious trophy in sport, with the 13th South Pacific Games held on the island of Samoa forming a pre-qualifying tournament for the first ever FIFA World Cup to be held on African soil.

Ten countries will take part in this South Pacific mini-tournament, with the top three teams going through to meet New Zealand in a four-team, round-robin-format group to establish the Oceania qualifier."

I am not sure what sort of team we will be sending. But it is a prep game for our World Cup qualifiers against the 3 top placed Island teams after their tournement.

Even if we play Fiji and win I think our ranking will drop further..haha Bl00dy Fifa ranking system.

If we build it, they will come...

I was hoping we would get another game in Christchurch.

Good two games we should win to move a little way up the rankings.

<!-- bmi_SafeAddOnload(bmi_load,"bmi_orig_img");//--> It is not the 'All Whites'. It will be a New Zealand A team - probably NZFC players etc like the one that toured Vietnam next year. No more All Whites games until Oceania qualifiers

<!-- bmi_SafeAddOnload(bmi_load,"bmi_orig_img");//--> It's October some time. I think one, two at the most, games will overlap with Phoenix matches.

Be an interesting side this... you can rule out most overseas players, and most of the Phoenix squad as we'll have a pre-season cup game smack in the middle of that.

Suspect it will be the U-20's plus the likes of Siggy, Flemming and co.

Well I think we should still play our strongest team available and call it an All Whites game so it is still an "A international" game and will be included in our ranking.

To bad if players make themselves unavailable.

We need to practice against the island nations. because we need to make sure we don't mess up the Qualifiers.

If we build it, they will come...

Quite funny. Still no news from NZSoccer about this game.

The Fifa website is not shown a fixture against fiji for those dates now 8th and 11th..
But there is one game on the 10.08/07 instead.

Strange....

If we build it, they will come...

well it appears that it is NZ A and not the All Whites...that would explain the silence in the media.

It will still be interesting to see who is going to mange the A team and the selections they make.
Will Ricki be going along? Good chance for him to test the fringe All-white players.

The likes of Draper, Brockie, Campbell a number of U20 players etc.

If we build it, they will come...
