So when you score a goal, you are supposed to put on a celebration move (refer to South Africa vs. Mexico for example).

We mustn't have believed we could score a goal because all we could do was run with our shirt over the head over to the corner and into a moat.

So now that we know we can score goals at the world cup we really need to get organised and choreograph a goal celebration that represents New Zealand.

What about a team haka?

The team did have something planned, but it didn't eventuate as Winston's goal was so last second and euphoric, so his reaction was more spontaneous.

Pretty sure its a canoe-waka celebration, thats what Leo said on CGW on Wednesday. Winnie reckons he bailed cos they hadn't practiced enough - which would be hilarious to watch at training.

Just as well they managed to stop just short of the moat then, or else they wouldn't have had much success keeping head above water!

IMO coreographed goal celebrations are lame.  Running around like a madman because you are just so genuinely stoked that you/your team has scored, that is awesome to see - but that's just my opinion.

that said, i did kind of like SA's celebration against mexico because it was the first goal of the tournament, and they are hosts and all that.

i'd probably think it was the coolest thing ever if we did one...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8l9NqMevIA - I hated this.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing a Waka, would love to see an aeroplane from Timmy (Or he could mimic driving a forklift), some badge kissing, one of Smeltzy's Phoenix days celebrations (Probably the Curner-Flag-Cruiser) and the Waka, which is verv exciting.
You know we belong together...

I think the waka idea would have been brilliant. Hopefully we score again so we can see it.

Thankfully that and not into the moat below. Losing key players from injuries in post goal celebrations would not have been fun. Guess they didn't realise the moat was there?
Saw the same in the Slovenia second goal celebration v. US last night. The slovenian player ended up in the moat!

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

Who puts moats around football fields? Is it to keep Serbs from invading? Footpaul2010-06-19 20:34:30

Not a goal celebration as such but Kendry Morales of the Los Angeles Angels baseball team had his leg broken after leaping to the homeplate, and being swamped by his team mates after their walk off win. We don't want our players injuring themselves celebrating, it would be tragic.

The Italians celebration was naff head butts and pretend vuvazulas  and a mime that seemed to say something like" look I scored and my nose is really huge look "

keep it real and just take your top off and nearly fall in the moat !

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

Something to do with fellatio.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.
