Steven Old......so, so bad.....you too, Bunce.....
some tasty tackles in there that refs might not be as lenient on these days

Strong Socceroos side, full of EPL and other European players. Missing only Viduka, Kewell, Grella, and Culina from their very good 2006 WC side.
Who was Michael Wilson?
Whatever happened to Webster? Had a short A League stint at Perth Glory.
Michael Wilson is the son of Ole Academy founder Dave and currently runs Ole. The other son, Matt was also a pretty good player.
Mike played for Western Suburbs and Team Wellington. Not sure if he ever did anything of note overseas.
Was a pretty decent player IMO. Played at DM or LB
Webster's wiki page is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrian_Webster_(foot...
He had a pretty darn cool on field fist fight with Jamie Harnwell and didn't last much longer at Glory
Hi, just wondering if anybody has any coverage of the 1990 Chatham Cup Final - Christchurch United v Mt Wellington which was shown on TV3. Thanks!

Try this - Noel Barkley got this guy to make up a highlights package a couple of years ago

Evening all, friendly from back in 2006 which saw a few debuts back on home soil...
We gave the post a good workout in that game...decent crowd as well.

Few Cantabs in the team probably helped.
If you include Brockie who was playing for Canterbury United, in the Prem at the time.
As were Fleming and Barron.
Second match v Malaysia :)
After Malaysia series in 2006, the All Whites headed to Chile for 2 matches - not great results, but Shane Smeltz's first All Whites goal...
After playing Chile, the All Whites headed to Europe for a four match tour, beginning with Hungary in Budapest:
Final match of the 2006 European tour was a glamour friendly against Brazil in Geneva

Yes Nelfoos he's a proud Nelsonian.
But as I stated above he played for Canterbury United - so the ChCh locals would of course been interested, in seeing him turning out for the AWs.
I watched him run around English Park a few times 2005-2006, in a red shirt with those flowing dreadlocks.

Of course not. But if he is playing for your local national Prem side, and then he is playing for the AWs (who rarely play in ChCh) you are more likely to have an interest in him as a local player than some of his international team mates.
Brockie got his first go at National League football in Christchurch. Call him an “adopted Cantab” but certainly a Nelson product.
Real keenos right like to re-live the full NZ vs Israel match from 1989:
Morning all, a match that (in my opinion) started off all the good that came in 2010...
How did Lochhead manage to stay on the park?

Interesting too that Woodin appeared to be playing with his socks down and no shin pads. Leastwise I can't see any pads when he goes down injured at the end of the coip

Shinpads only became compulsary in the 90s, wasn't uncommon for players to not play with any before that
that'll explain why the number of views on my clip suddenly jumped :)
Morning all - was given this footage of a WC qualifier in 1988 by a former player. Quality is a bit ropey as it is essentially a home recording (the match was never broadcast) but still a couple of quality goals from top players of the past...
and here are a couple of clips from early 2007 - a two match tour to Central and South America by a squad with the bulk of its players in the off-season, playing in testing local conditions against better quality opponents and passionate local fans. What could possibly go wrong? let's just say neither of these are particularly pleasant viewing...
Morning all - a clip from 2009 when we played world champions Italy in the buildup to Confeds in South Africa. Ended up being pretty surreal for a while! Enjoy the memories :)
(please note I can't post any footage from Confeds itself as my channel gets copyright smashed by FIFA, sorry)
Didn't we play Botswana or Tanzania (or both?) on that trip as well? Any footage of that?
Amazing that we had a decent scoreline against Italy, and then produced possibly our worst ever FIFA tournament. Yes, we got a draw but celebrated it like we just won Lotto (embarrassing), didn't even have a shot against South Africa, and Spain didn't get out of second gear and demolished us.
Aye we lost 2-1 to Tanzania and drew 0-0 with Botswana
would be very surprised if there was any footage especially of the Botswana game, apparently the BFA didn't believe NZ would actually turn up so hadn't bothered to allocate a stadium for the game or a training pitch for NZ. They went into panic mode when they found out NZ was arriving. Think NZ may have actually gone back to South Africa to train before playing the game!
yeh no footage of either that I know of Russ - and I've looked... but if anyone knows anyone there etc etc, please feel free to let me know :)
Hadn't heard that Botswana story, but that is awesome.

Highly likely. Gaborone the capital is only 15 km from the South African border.
Brockie nutmegs Pirlo. Beat that will be a photo one day in his pool room.
That Killen header still hasn't stopped. It's just circling the globe.
and I agree that is weird how they did this well in this game and then "performed" the way they did the next week at Confeds...
Build-up to the 2009 playoff saw this match in Jordan - good result, and the debuts of Messrs Rory Fallon and Michael McGlinchey...
I assume there is no footage of the 0-0 game with Australia at QE2 in 95?
My first All Whites game. I was quite young but I remember it was raining, the game was rubbish, and someone kept abusing Chris Jackson for being rubbish nearly the entire 90 mins.
I don't have any footage of that one, sorry - happy to hear from anyone who does!
