All Whites, Ferns, and other international teams
All Whites in Asia - March/April 09
The Indonesian FA had concerns as the game coincided with elections.
Looking to replace fixture with another in SE Asia.
Bet me by a matter of minutes.
Hopefully we'll succeed in getting a few more games.

no Barron...Don't take it so seriously, that was a bit of poke at one of this forum's finest...
I hadn't noticed that Mossy has picked himself up a 4, yes that's right 4!!!, match ban, only for competitive fixtures
So he will only be able to come back to play for us in our 3rd WC 2010 group match to decide 1st and 2nd in the group
Good luck Mark, you're our only hope

Glen Moss is free to play in the South East Asian friendlies, despite being sent off in New Zealands last international against Fiji.
As that game was a World Cup qualifier, the lengthy four-match ban imposed by FIFA will apply to World Cup matches only, ruling him out of the Asia-Oceania playoff in October and November, and the first two matches of either the 2010 FIFA World Cup or New Zealands 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.

But if your looking for ASEAN opponents: Singapore and Vietnam are your best options.

Don't see any reason why the same shouldn't apply to the Confed Cup, since it's a FIFA organised competition.
Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet
He's been playing with the MLS side San Jose in their pre-season.
no Barron...
Lets be honest the guys picked are of a far better class then Andy. I just wish Ricky could talk Ivan out of retirement.
On the negitive side, I am quite worried about the fact that we are going to be with out Glen for the two biggest games NZ has had since late 81/early 82 (ie the playoffs).

Normo's coming home
I hope you're right JD, but in this sport I reckon you take nothing for granted until its official. I think Simon's current status is "trialling" - that's what Fred W's article today in Dom says and that's what i read somewhere in local San Jose media previously (although I see this morning's Herald article has listed Simon as with San Jose). He has played all their pre-season, but according to the blogvine therecould be some issues re Columbus Crew still holding his MLS rights - and its a fickle business of course. So, hopefully, he can lock it down.
Marius Lacatus2009-03-05 09:07:30What did Moss say to get a four match world cup ban? That seems excessive.
I am fairly certain (or at least was until last night) that you can't ban players in international football simply on a competition basis - i.e. bans apply to all competetive fixtures a national team plays, there is no differentiation between World Cup/Continental Champs and related qualifying.
So surely then, Moss' ban should include the Confed Cup? Assuming we don't qualify from the group, then Moss would be suspended only for the first WC playoff?
Anyone who can clarify this?

Glen Moss' World Cup dream is in tatters after football's governing body Fifa handed the All Whites goalkeeper a four-match ban for swearing at the referee in last November's international against Fiji.
Moss was sent off in the match in Lautoka for allegedly telling the referee to "f... off" and Fifa has confirmed the lengthy ban.
French midfielder Zinedine Zidane was banned for three matches after headbutting Italy's Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final.
As the match against Fiji was a World Cup qualifier, the ban applies to Cup matches only, ruling him out of the Asia-Oceania playoff in October and November.
He would also miss the first two matches of either the 2010 World Cup, or New Zealand's 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.
NZF unsuccessfully appealed the ban.
The former Wellington Phoenix and now Melbourne Victory goalkeeper could not be reached for comment yesterday.
All Whites coach Ricki Herbert said: "It's a hard one. We've been asked not to respond on it. He was going to miss these two games [friendlies in Asia later this month] and then some at the Confederations Cup, but now they've pinned it all on the World Cup.
"He would be very disappointed, I would assume.
"Mark [Paston] and Glen are very close but we're certainly going to miss the depth of experience with Glen."
Nonetheless, Herbert yesterday included Moss in an 18-man All Whites squad for two friendlies, against Thailand in Bangkok on March 28 and a second against unconfirmed opposition on April 1. He will also be one of three keepers going to the Confederations Cup in South Africa in June.
"Just because he can't play two games at the end of the year doesn't mean he can't play at the Confederations Cup," Herbert said.
Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers skipper Ryan Nelsen regains the captaincy, with Phoenix vice-captain Tim Brown assuming the same role with the national team.
Also in in the squad are high-profile players Chris Killen, on loan to English Championship side Norwich City from Scottish giants Celtic, and Simon Elliott, who has been trialling in the United States with the San Jose Earthquakes.
Phoenix pair Ben Sigmund and Leo Bertos are the most notable absentees. Both recently had surgery to respective hip and leg injuries. Sigmund is almost certain to miss the Confederations Cup and Bertos is likely to face a 10-week recovery.
Belgium-based utility Christian Bouckenooghe makes his first travelling squad since March 2007, while uncapped Waitakere United fullback Aaron Scott is given a chance to impress.
So what lf1 said is correct.
I think this answers it:
Article 38, FIFA Disciplinary Code 2009
As a general rule, every match suspension (of players and other persons)
is carried over from one round to the next in the same competition.
2. Match suspensions in relation to an expulsion pronounced on a player

the competition for which they were intended (elimination or the last
match in the competition) are carried over as follows:
a) FIFA World Cup: carried over to the representative teams
subsequent official match;
b) competitions subject to an age limit: carried over to the representative
teams next offi cial match in the same age group. Where the
suspension cannot be served in the same age group, it shall be
carried over to the next highest age category;
c) FIFA Confederations Cup: carried over to the representative teams
next offi cial match;
d) FIFA Club World Cup: carried over to club competitions at
confederation level;
e) confederation competitions for representative teams: carried over
to the representative teams next offi cial match in a competition
organised by FIFA;
f) competitions in which teams have been chosen in accordance
with certain criteria (cultural, geographical, historical etc.): if the
regulations of these competitions refer to the FIFA regulations
for disciplinary sanctions, the suspension is carried over to the
representative teams next offi cial match;
g) friendly matches: carried over to the representative teams next
friendly match.
