What is going on with Ricki Herbert? It's bad enough NZF are in a muddle about the AWs preparation for the all-important upcoming World Cup playoffs. But did he simply pull out an old team sheet from a few years ago, and just add a few new names?
How on earth can Lochhead (passed it, no club), Jeremy Christie (likewise) and Aaron Scott still be All Whites for the upcoming friendlies in Los Angeles (or Mexico)? Sure, bring in the young lad from Marsaille, Kris Bright and Craig Henderson but Ricki has got to stop still picking his old favourites, some of whom aren't even playing. Loyalty is a good thing, but not when it's blinkered.
If we're going to use the opportunity of injuries to key players (Rojas, Wood, Killen and Smeltz) to take a look at some up and coming players, why bother wasting valuable match time on players we know are past it or aren't up to it? I swear, even if Lochhead had a broken leg, Ricki would still pencil him in.
