Fallon, Watson, and Wood as striking options is probably not a bad idea if the pitches won't be conducive to playing possession football

Pretty samey

True, although despite his size I think Wood isn't really suited to the targetman role and looks better running onto the ball or receiving it to feet. He can be a targetman if needed but it's not his natural game.

Couple of interesting names though - Patrick Izzet is the Canadian kid who was at the Whitecaps, and Andres Greensmith plays for Heidelberg Yoofs in Aussie

Might already be in Aussie, on holiday and returning later.

A few players turned the camp down didn't they, but that doesn't mean they won't make the tournament... at least I hope so.

Fallon has played 2 games in reserves in 18 months and yet he's ahead of Brockie??? And Moss who is a starting keeper and playing in the highest league comparatively can't get a look in??

Hudson's selection are almost as bad as Ricki's were.

The earlier comment about this doubling up as an under-20 trial must be true. SURELY!

That list does say Monday on it so perhaps more people are being added each day.

Is it like a knock out comp with better players seeded to come in at a latter round?

Played with some of these players and I am bit disappointed. Mitch Watt was minging in high school. Wasn't good. But that was two years ago.

David Masters was at Glenfield Rovers and left because he wasn't getting any game time, as Michael O'Keefe was selected over him.

O'Keefe not on here either.

Charlie Thomas brother of Ryan?

Reece Cox and Oscar Ramsay are interesting training group selections. Always knew they were good players, but didn't think they were that good!

But yeah majority of these players are around 18/19. Some 17.

I am guessing (Key word) that Hudson is just using this to look at some players he needs a second look it.

Why bother spending money on this  camp ? Surely Hudson must have some idea who he is going to pick and if this group forms a large part of it Hudson is truly mental.

I can only think that he wants to work on tactics/shape and needs the numbers. Those that attend this camp will be a little bit better prepared than those that join later.

I understand that letters have went out to players a while ago letting them know if they are in the squad or on the stand by list. All the players going to Brisbane have been advised and flights etc booked. Not quite sure what the point of his camp is

but why even bother when you have so few of your starting side. It is simply a waste of time and money

fair enough, obviously planned it far enough out and talked it up as they have not planned actual games. once the more senior players started declining it would have been another embarrassing  moment to cancel the camp.

Its a mixture of who of the probably final squad is available and future under 20s minus obvious guys like mcgarry and singh. Got no problem with that. To be added; tzimipolous, boxall, durante? musa? colvey? mcglinchey tuiloma (if not there already) rojas boyd smeltz barbarouses & wood. Injured; roux, thomas Difficult; reid, smith

It's just a bunch of kids to make up the numbers, probably they will travel with the first team to help them training, kind of a sparring. IMO it's okay. Would've been better to have more advertising about this though.

the camp makes sense for me for the local NZ players from the Nix and ASB who are squad players at best, those guys Hudson hasn't had in camp (Tama Iti Hamish Watson, Fallon) and Bill (Hudson probably wanted to see him in person to gauge fitness etc given how little game time he has had).

Per AS I imagine that 18 or so out of the 23 spots have probably been booked and paid for - hence no WeeMac, Durante and Moss from the Nix perhaps. I imagine Hudson knows what he is getting and trusts their professionalism in relation to fitness levels to have them show up in Brisbane.

I don't think NZF are making a big deal out of it as I don't think it's intended to be an All Whites camp but rather a camp for the extended playing squad to retain fitness (hence the beep tests), figure out he last couple of spots and blood some younger guys while they are at it.

Makes sense to me why it's low key. The real stuff doesn't start until next week (and even then the Euro boys won't all be there).

No still there - he has been granted leave. Also their season finished on Saturday and as they finished 3rd on League 2 they get automatic promotion and don't have to worry about playoffs

Rory says Rovers season is over (were promoted), and not being one for a drink he skipped the promotion celebrations

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/nz-teams/797...

Soccerway says he wasn't in a Bristol match day squad since 28th March anyway. So he at age 34 he may not be resigned for next season when Rovers in League One

Sill his big frame, and elbows may come in handy for 10-15 minute cameos in PNG - the island players as a rule being shortish in stature

Was Fallon in any of the extended playing lists that were going around? I'd imagine every prediction is now wrong.

If Falloon junior gets picked will Hudson's biggest critic, Falloon senior become mute?

Journos may have to head to Declan for a verbal spray on the coach next.

It appears Brockie has more goals since the start of 2015 than Fallon has minutes on the pitch....

Brockie 11 goals in 2015/16 PSL + 8 in 2014/15 PSL + brace vs roar 04/01/15 + 8 Goals in South African Cup Competitions = 29 Goals

Fallon     14 minutes at Accrington Stanley in Jan16 + 3 minutes at Wycombe in Feb16 + 2 minutes at Notts county in March16 = 19 minutes
