I remember last round of CONCACAF qualifying in 2013, and from memory Panama (apologies if was another Central American side) looked good for all money to grab the 4th spot, and qualifying playoff against AWs. I remember being excited about that prospect as rated AWs a good chance. Then gloom descended as Panama? choked, and perennial powerhouse Mexico somehow stole the 4th spot, in the last round. Strange shark happens.

Especially where there's dirty money involved.

USA scored 2 in added time to deny Panama the spot in the play offs, they needed to win and scored an 83rd minute go ahead goal.

Argentina lose 0–1 at home to Paraguay, leaving them fifth still. They're really struggling with Messi's injury; the team has no direction. It would be awesome if we face them in the playoff. They will either shark the bed without Messi or we'll be able to watch a Messi masterclass live at the Cake Tin.

Meanwhile druglord kingpin Pablo Escobar scores two for Bolivia.

Watched bits of that game. Missed penalty and another, which looked to incorrectly, ruled out for offside.

Leicester won the league over 38 games. If there's anything I've learned from that, it's that I know not nearly as much about football as I thought. 3 hours of football is all we're dealing with, rather than a 9 month league. We keep it within a goal away from home then anything's possible. Things become even more likely when we face a team that's not inside the top 15 teams in the world or so.

Yeah right.

Odds on Smith being available for the first friendly after we have been knocked out by the South American side?  Anyone take 100-1? (That's assuming we play a match between then and the next Nations Cup obviously)

He will still be in... however, after the confeds?

The article struck me for how apologetic he was throughout it... I don't know if he was told to do so, but it sounds like he had to really plead his case and apologise... Glad to see Hudson made him do this and that he checked with senior players before saying ok.

Hudson comes out good in my opinion... he's made a pro, apologise formally and publicly for his behaviour, got a good player back and consulted his team moving forward.

That is a dreadful comparison. Have a word with yourself.

Three for me, and two for them.

Glad to have tommy back, there was clearly an issue that had been unresolved and now both parties have moved forward. He may have been a prick but there must've been a reason, he always made himself available, especially against the island nations, and played with great passion. Hopefully he returns with the same passion i think we may have a shot of making the world cup if this miracle turn around in hudsons tactics continues.

Whats our best XI now?

Gleeson/Marinovic

Roux - Boxall - Reid - Smith - Wynne

Tuiloma

McGlinchey - Thomas

Barbarouses -Wood

Or could bring Tuiloma back into defence to make us more solid back there;

         Gleeson/Marinovic

Roux - Boxall - Reid - Smith - Tuiloma

      McGlinchey

      Rojas - Thomas

         Barbarouses - Wood

Potentially too light in midfield, but only way I could keep all of rojas, thomas and barbarouses in this team using this formation. Also like the look of defence with Tuiloma at LWB, remembering he played wingback a lot growing up. Could even push Boxall to RWB and bring Themi in for Roux to make the defence very solid looking. ie;

                   Gleeson/Marinovic

Boxall - Themi - Reid - Smith - Tuiloma

                      McGlinchey

                  Rojas - Thomas

               Wood - Barbarouses

Or if we switched it up to a 442 could go with;

Gleeson/Marinovic

Boxall - Reid - Themi - Smith

Thomas - McGlinchey - Tuiloma - Rojas

Wood -Barbarouses

Just some ideas.

I don't want that prick back.

He gets dropped by his team, then he gets injured, then his team hover above the relegation zone.

Then he thinks shark this ain't looking too good for Tommy, need to cover my bases here.

Now those all whites have some juicy games coming up which will keep me in the shop window.

Tommy is just like a whore in the shop window in Amsterdam.

The difference is those whores have more class and integrity

I've been to Amsterdam and I think you're a bit off the mark here tbh.

personally I feel for Durante here. The guy has gone to the US and essentially "missed" the first couple of games for the Nix. It makes sense to have him as back up for a Reid injury and Dura is playing well so I'd have no issue with him stepping into the team if necessary. But if Smith comes back and pushes Dura out of the squad I'd feel for him and wouldn't be surprised if right now he's pretty p&ssed off.

You'd hope Dura was one of the players talked to.

The support of "two captains" Winston Reid and Chris Wood and fellow senior players Michael McGlinchey, Michael Boxall and Rory Fallon confirmed his own feelings.

I have a huge amount of respect for Boxall if this is true.

Seems to be another sign of Hudson showing a bit more maturity perhaps? As much as the NZF press release implied that Smith came grovelling back I'd be surprised if there wasn't a bit of give and take there. Seems Hudson has been more willing recently to swallow his pride and admit mistakes (at least behind closed doors) and give the senior players more of a leadership role. All speculation of course but imo Smith coming back is a positive sign.

You'd have to think so after Gleeson getting himself in trouble.  Match also in NZ so maybe easier to call up locals in SSP and A-League.

Gleeson doesn't have to drive to the games does he? Why would a DIC charge effect his availability or selection for the team?

I think it clashes with a court hearing

if he leaves the country they might not let him back in, happened to a friend of mine got stopped at the US border and sent home, but he had a job and a kid so he caught the next flight back and they let him through.

The Bolivian Football Association (FBF) has been sanctioned for fielding an ineligible player in the preliminary competition matches for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ played between Bolivia and Peru on 1 September 2016 and between Chile and Bolivia on 6 September 2016.

Both matches are declared to be forfeited and awarded 3-0 in favour of Peru and 3-0 in favour of Chile, with the FBF also receiving a total fine of CHF 12,000 after the FIFA Disciplinary Committee deemed the FBF liable for having breached art. 55 par. 1 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC) and art. 8 of the Regulations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. Upon delivering its decision, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee referred to the wording of art. 55 of the FDC, which sets a clear sanction for any breach of eligibility rules.

The sanction relates to the player Nelson Cabrera who was fielded by Bolivia in breach of the rules on eligibility to play for representative teams set out in the Regulations Governing the Application of the FIFA Statutes.

The sanction will have immediate effect.
