I believe it's Saturday the 11th. Though haven't seen any confirmation
Tahiti v PNG is being streamed live here right now http://www.tntv.pf/LIVE-TAHITI-vs-Papouasie-Nouvel...
PNG win in Tahiti 2-1...very even group, PNG and Solomons to play out the last two fixtures...I guess PNG back as slight favourites again...that default win that Tahiti had over Solomons (3-0) could mean a lot especially in regards to goal difference
When do we play the final against the other Oceania side?
Normo's coming home
When do we play the final against the other Oceania side?
So Tahiti finish on 6 points after their four games. PNG and Solomon's play each other home and away 9th and 13th June both on 3 points so it really is anyone's to take the group though you would have to think Tahiti missed their chance with that lost yesterday.
| Pos | Team | Pld | W | D | L | GF | GA | GD | Pts |
| 1 | Tahiti | 4 | 2 | 0 | 2 | 7 | 4 | +3 | 6 |
| 2 | Papua New Guinea | 2 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 4 | -1 | 3 |
| 3 | Solomon Islands | 2 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 3 | -2 | 3 |
Interesting that PNG won despite not picking any Hekari player. I'm assuming because of the touted rebel league being organised by their owner.
Wonder if it signals a changing of the guard some what. A decade ago it was Fiji and Solomon Islands giving us the most trouble (i'm blocking Vanuatu out of my mind). Then it was Tahiti and New Caledonia. And now perhaps PNG given their Nation Cup performance too.

Ok and we don't know which game will be at home or the venue yet right?
Normo's coming home
Thought the home leg was locked in for Auckland with the Intercontinental game here.

Well if you think about it, is the most logical thing to see PNG being the best of the Islands teams, considering they have by far the biggest population in the OFC. Even if football isn't their most popular sport, this is something that would have eventually happened whatsoever

The PNG reps in the O League round played recently at Centre Park Mangere, Lae City Dwellers, finished 3rd out of 4. ACFC were 1st, Western Utd of the Solomons were 2nd, and the Vanuatu team, Malampa Revivor, came last. I saw most games and the Solomons team were the only outfit that gave City any problems. The PNG team weren't anything like as good as the Hekari team of a few years ago.

Infrastructure is terrible in every Island nation. I'm not saying that just because of the pop they should be better but how many chances do you have of finding a decent footballer from 250k people (NC)? PNG might be undeveloped but they still got 7 millon to pick from

Under that logic China and India should be fighting it in the World Cup final in the future

The French colonies have pretty good infrastructure and reasonable standards of living, one of them definitely have the ability to pull an Iceland.
that's a Massive call. Haven't been to New Caledonia and must admit I was shocked by the comment above that their GDP per capita per person is higher then NZ's (need to check that one), but have been to Tahiti and it isn't flash there

The figures are from 2011 so NZ may be ahead now. French Polynesia, which Tahiti is part of, has about half the GDP per capita of New Caledonia. PNG's figure is about a tenth of NC's. I haven't been to Tahiti or NC but I have been to PNG and it's rough. Really rough.

Didn't work out like that for Tahiti last time. I think you could be right a long way into the future, but not just yet.
If we don't qualify for the world cup were gonna need to organise a lot friendly's
If we don't qualify for the world cup were gonna need to organise a lot friendly's
If we don't qualify we will most probably end up playing just 3 or 4 friendlies against Asian oppostion

Long wait until next South American World Cup qualifiers 31 August (September 1 NZT)
So tight for the three remaining automatic qualifying spots (Brazil already through) and the fifth-place play-off'
Current contenders for 5th place play-off spot:
Colombia: 24 pts
Uruguay: 23
Chile: 23
Argentina: 22 (Fifth place)
Ecuador: 20
Peru: 18
Paraguay: 18
Argentina have won only one of seven games without Messi in this qualifying campaign.
Have won five out of six with him.
Ecuador seem in freefall, having won only two of their last ten qualifiers after a great start in the early rounds
Chile just seem to have been improving in their last two games.
With Messi banned from competitive internationals until the last game of qualifying, it seems more likely that he will play in Argentina's friendly against Brazil at the MCG in Melbourne on June 9 and the match against Singapore on June 13. .

All Whites believe push for professionalism paying off in pursuit of world cup dream.
Article states that there will be 26-27 players in contention, in our latest call up there was 22, who will be the 4-5 extra?
So Lewis, Dyer and possibly Adams the only ones in the frame out of a pro-environment?
And rumours of Lewis getting a contract soon?

Took Hudson's remarks about Lewis to be more hopeful reinforcement. If he can't land something off the back of the U20 WC and the CC though...
But yup, those are the only three ammos - and Adams would only be in the mix if one of the six blokes ahead of him got broked

That article is a good effort from Clay Wilson in the Sunday Star-Times with comments from both Durante and Hudson.
You get the sense from Durante that the players are happy with the way Hudson does things.
Also, a continuation of the "Ricki had lost the plot by 2013" theme which you also get from Ben Sigmund's autobiography:
"Durante...said there was a "huge difference" in the level of professionalism between his 2013 debut and today."
Durante's just being polite and diplomatic there.
Hudson says there's only 48 days till the AW's go away - that means they're going into camp to prepare for the Confeds Cup about May 23 or so, with the first friendly against Northern Ireland on June 2.
I'm really looking forward to the next few months with the u-20 World Cup in South Korea next month too.
Another Clay Wilson interview with Hudson from last week where Hudson talks about the Barbarouses / Roux situation and his selection plans for the early June friendlies and the Confeds Cup:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/nz-teams/913...
"All Whites coach Anthony Hudson says Kosta Barbarouses and Storm Roux remain firmly in contention to make his squad for the Confederations Cup in June...."
Seems that with Kosta he wasn't selected on form but Hudson has been impressed by his recent showings.
With Roux, opting out of last year's North American tour when he was fit counted against him but "If his performances are strong between now and the end of the season he is right in there with a chance."
"Hudson reckoned there were "one or two spots at most" up for grabs in his top 11 and admitted the two wing-back spots were an area he was yet to be totally convinced as to his best options.
Whoever ended up winning those roles in the full-strength starting side, expect them to feature heavily at the Confederations Cup and in the All Whites two international friendlies against Northern Ireland and Belarus in the lead-up to the tournament.
"It will be a full-strength team in the first game against Northern Ireland and against Belarus, but the second game (against an Irish club side) I'll probably use to give players some minutes," Hudson said.
"Other than that, we won't be chopping and changing. Believe it or not, it's not what I believe in to rotate the squad all the time. It's just the context I'm working in.
"With this team there is so much travel and extra sacrifice the players make, it's really important we rotate and balance the squad and I give them something back where I can, but never at expense of getting a result."

Would imagine Dane's the one at risk if they decide to give Roux the call up he deserves. Could get a reprieve at Sam Brotherton's expense, maybe, 5 CBs + Bill should be enough cover. Feel Hudson is done with Roux, despite his statements to the contrary.
