You just dont get anywhere near that sort of atmosphere at an all blacks game IT WAS ELECTRIC! But what im angry about is sport 365 headlines has the STUPID RUGBY some of it not even new zealand and FFS they hardly played well against italy and still we qualify for the 2nd best and biggest sporting event in the world and we are still second teir to RUGBY FFS. rant over.

mmmm just arose from my slumber and no I am not dreaming. wow. what a night! town just went crazy. NZRU are really going to be sh*tting their daks at the way NZ are getting behind football, quite probably now are converting alot of rugby supporters too!

Highlights for me was chanting to some bahrainis on their bus outside holiday inn, but then the All Whites bus drove past!!!! Chased it from one end of Featherston to the other stopping at the red lights to give the boys a wave through the door, Ricki was cracking up never seen that guy smile so much!! Collapsed at the other end of the street though haha. Was well worth it

World Cup Draw

If the seeded countries go on their world ranking today, and

the regions are seeded Europe/South America/Africa/Asia/Americas

Then NZ will be drawn in Group 5 with Germany, the 10th European team, and the 3rd African team. I think!

Lol I just realised we're going to have to have a WORLD CUP forum on this site now.

The best thing about that game was that it wasn't just taken - we looked a superior team apart from the first the minutes and a part at the start of the second half.  I hope the team can get together for some friendlies before the WC - we've got $10 mil so I'm sure some could be spared for some good practice!

P.s. if anyone found an old alcatel 735 cellphone outside teh stduim, I'd love it back.  Sure, I'm happy to trade a lost phone for a win, but I'd prefer to have both

Screamed my head off last night in Auckland. Fabulous result. Bl**dy marvellous. Well done, guys! Everyone involved. And yes, the crowd was also sensational.

Radio Sport giving it plenty of air time today, as they should with Deaker in full flow. Looks like most of the afternoon will be the last night's game, and where we're heading. Great stuff.

Slight digression: Anyone remember what changes are planned for the A-League season next year with the World Cup running over June/July?

Heaven knows I'm miserable now

The World Cup is now bigger than the Olympics I would say to be honest.

Not sure if there are any 'stats' back up my argument?

But yeah, great atmosphere, that's what football is all about. You'll never get excitement like that for a rugby game. The game itself wasn't even that great, but the goal, and penalty save were awesome celebrations!

Well done chaps, I hope you get England in your group and beat them!!!

Here's an interesting stat  not sure if anyone has already mentioned

Oceania champion New Zealand now progresses to South Africa as possibly the first team in Cup history to reach the finals without beating a country with a population of more than 1 million.

It's largest opponent in the Oceania confederation was Fiji (850,000) and it moved on to a two-leg clash with Bahrain (750,000), which finished fifth in Asian regional qualifying.

Exactly the sort of stat which FIFA will consider when they arrange the 2014 World Cup.

Don't think our path to the next finals will be so short. Suspect it will mean the winner of Oceania (All Whites, gotta be), playing off in a home-and-away tournament with some of the better Asian teams.

But even if that didn't take us to the finals, it could still provide us with some fabulous football.

BTW... any plans to expand the Cake Tin? Might be a bit small for future crowds. Oh, and a retractable roof would be nice.

What more can i say? Best night of my life. Still recovering. Still hasn't sunk in. We're going to a World Cup!!!!

Barely remember any of the game but that doesn't matter one bit. Celebrated the goal and the penalty save like never before. Crowd was amazing. I never expected to see an atmosphere like that at a football match here in my lifetime.

had a ball. I still have no voice left. I understand it was very hard for us 'yellow fevers' to start chant, being amognst such a big crowd, with people not knowing the words etc. I started quite a few chants and am proud of myself and my crew for scriming our lungs out. Bahrain were a solid team, very technical and hard to break down.

I think we thoroughly derserved the win, but had we been unlucky we could have lost it too. so credit to them for trying their best, and they had a decent crowd too.

But it was NZ night, it had to be. Great game by Nelsen, Siggy, Smelty, Fallon, Killen, Brownie...and super-man Paston and super greek boy Leo Leo Super fcken Leo!!!

What a game! I am so happy, I really hope that this euphoria carries on to the Nix in a couple of weeks. Be nice to have 10K+.

Yep, absolutely incredible night in aisle 19. The legs are suffering today from jumping around celebrating the goal, penalty save and final whistle. I haven't seen it on TV yet but would love to know if the crowd could be heard. It was deafening for the whole game.

As an a-league, socceroo, football-loving supporter from across the ditch, I was absolutely stoked to see you guys get up. Watched the game live at a Setanta venue in Brisbane and while it wasn't quite the water torture treatment of Uruguay, there was that same 'destiny' feeling about it. A real seminal moment for football in NZ and long may it continue.

This is a victory for NZ, etched in part by the a-league. I'm off to SA and will defo take in your games.

When the dust settles and life returns to some semblance of normalcy, it will be you guys at yellow fever, the true believers, that will savour it the most. You're all as mad as cut snakes to be taking your shirts off in that crazy weather but gee you give it some during every game. On behalf of all football lovers in this part of the world, thanks for keeping the flame burning after that abortion called the NZ Knights.

The way the nix are playing, I have a felling you'll have plenty more celebrations ahead of you for the year.

They muted the crowd somewhat, which caused a funny delay in the commentary

but yeah kinda sad to be muted, but guess they had to else the commentary couldnt be heard at all
