I know we played well last game in 3-4-3 but we really should be playing at least half the game with a back 4.

Didn't Ricki say we were going to go 4-4-2 in this game?

He said he may try 4-4-2 later in the game but will stick with 3-4-3 at the beginning.

Apparently Ricki did say 4-4-2 was quite likely for this game but has changed his mind now:

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/6991435/Kosta-Barbarouses-desperate-to-build-on-success/

"Herbert said he would assess players today before settling on the starting XI to play world No62 Honduras, but didn't forecast many changes. He had flirted with the idea of switching formation to 4-4-2 but was likely to wait for Winston Reid and Tony Lochhead to join the team in Honiara before making that move."

HONDURAS TEAM

Ranked 62 by FIFA but in fact probably better than El Salvador (49):

Honduras are current winners of the Central American (UNCAF) championship after beating El Salvador 2-0 in the semi and Costa Rica 2-1 in the final last year- El Salvador only finished  fourth.

CONCACAF Gold Cup (CONCACAF Federation championship) in the States last year: sole loss in group stage 1-0 to Jamaica; beat Costa Rica in the quarters, lost 2-0 to Mexico in the semis.

Other major results over last year: drew away to El Salvador in friendly 2-2 on 29/05/11; Honduras 2 - Venezuela 0 10/08/11; beat Jamaica 2-1 11/10/11; beat Serbia 2-0 13/11/11

Only played twice so far this year: 2-0 loss away to Ecuador 29/02/11; 1 - 1 draw away to Costa Rica, friendly 11/04/12

Video highlights vs Costa Rica: (Good, quick attacking team- good Honduras goal 50 sec. in here):

Sorry if it's already been covered, but why don't we play the likes of Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico in their own countries?  If it comes to inter continental play off surely we would instead of the USA hosting the games?

God I'd love a win tomorrow..

Probably more money to be made playing them in the States, with the large ex-pat populations.

Also think it's for logistical purposes getting out to Honiara with such a short turn around. Also training facilities, hotels etc. in the States will have more chance of being, er, of a reputable quality.

On looking at the You Tube highlights of Honduras I posted links to above, they appear a better side  than El Salvador who could cause us a lot of problems with their pace up front.

In particular, their danger man in recent games looks to be the number 9 David Suazo who has spent most of his career in Italian Serie A, mostly notably with Inter Milan, and also had a spell with Benfica, most recently playing for Catania in Serie A. He's likely to start against NZ.

Suazo uses his pace and scores a great goal vs. Costa Rica in Honduras' last game last month:

Not sure if the pitch is terrible, or it just looks terrible because of the terrible quality coverage.
