I didn't know he had been selected for every game before.

Both Marinovic & Gleeson have overtaken Moss.  The 3rd keeper will just be lugging the ball bags around so it might as well be Williams.

Helps keep Hudson in Ernie's good books, by leaving Moss behind for Nix's first 2 games. He can always come back into the AWs squad, later in the year for the qualifiers which are closer to home.

Has Moss even p played a game for Hudson ?

Moss's last game for AWs was Uzbekistan, Sept 2014 (2 years ago).

Was that Hudson's first game in charge?

What does Hudson have against players in Scandinavia?  Have they all told him to F-Off after picking 2nd XI school kids in the midfield and defence?

He said in an interview that he's picking for the future and players that will peek around Russia, which of course explains Fallon

So Fallon over Tyler Boyd? I don't get it. Even think Nix's striker Watson should get a look in over Fallon.

Yeah agree. You have guys playing MLS and German leagues and in the middle of their season. To be honest I would have thought that Hudsons response re form was no locks as thought Moss have hit offside with him during Uzbek trip but the fact Hudson said he was selected previously must mean it's a sign that Gleeson and Marinovic are good enough and Moss would just be a luxury.

Moss played in Uzbekistan under Hudson, but that squad was picked by Neil Emblen. Moss has been named in press releases for the Oman and Myanmar squads as unavailable due to personal reasons, and then for the ONC as unavailable due to injury. Prior to that, he was one of those left out so Hudson could look at younger options, and now this time, he's been left out for the reasons above.

I would say the biggest sign that Gleeson is good enough is the fact he holds a spot at an MLS team, the disparity between that and the A league and a 4th division German League is real and people need to get a grip on that.

hence why he hasn't made it at all, though annoying to see NZF not play hardball

Fallon playing for Truro City week in week out, yes I know he didn't open his account yet, but he was certainly a very useful options on the bench, and he can cost their defence lots of problem after coming on, without Smeltz he will be the key figure of this camp and for the whole squad.

Fallon brings professionalism, which looking at our amatuer midfield we need.

Still some puzzling omissions.

It will be interesting to see how we go against two very good squads... if we lose heavily I expect Hudson to get a grilling, but to side step the issue.

I don't think anyone is saying he should be selected ahead of Gleeson but Marinovic plays pub football.

Yet he's our incumbent and has done nothing to suggest he doesn't deserve to be.

The curious case of Glen Moss. I think its obvious his AW career is over. He is a better keeper than Williams.

Gleeson earns the starting spot but you can't tell me that Moss is not the number 2. May not be a CLEAR number 2 but I think based on the competition, he is the number 2

No. Marinovic has been near flawless and was one of the handful of players who put in a good shift at the Nations Cup. Moss is the third best.

We are able to score a few goals and hopefully not conceded much, but you look at US and Mexico, they are not really strong as 2-3 years ago, possibly we will get a win!!!

?  Ignoring Fallon this is already quite an experienced squad with Durante, WeeMac, Reid, Wood.  Rory must be very good mates with Hudson.

Yes Marinovic has played well but he's only played in two matches against decent opposition.  I think Glen should still be in front of him:

1: Gleeson

2: Moss

3: Marinovic

4: Williams

Love the enthusiasm, but it's doubtful. We may be able to field okay defenders and attackers but our midfield is non existent.

We need someone like SIngh to suddenly explode into his potential and then Riera to become eligible in time for the intercontinental playoff in order to not get slaughtered.

Well if he plays pub football then then the other keepers are making home brew because they can't afford to go to the pub

Interesting Mexican team named. The team is mostly made up of players from the first division of Mexico. Big names such as Chicharito, Carlos Vela, Herrera, Guardado, Layun, Moreno, Ochoa are not named in the squad. I think we have a chance, looking at the squad there are a couple of uncapped players/players with under 10 caps. But Dos Santos is going to be a big threat with scoring 13 goals in the MLS this season, also Lozano is great young talent with lots of pace and is wanted by big clubs around the world such as MUTD.

Agreed, I don't know the quality of 4th division German league but I struggle to understand how a player who's stats rank in the top 3-5 keepers of the mls gets such close comparison. There really is none.

13 goals in MLS this season, good thing Gleeson is there, ranking high in the MLS stats currently

1. Gleeson 2. Moss 3. Marinovic But look obviously Moss and Hudson dont see eye to eye.

Chris James obvious midfield option, continues to play professionally, loads professional experience, proven performing for All Whites great presence last time games against Mexico. So Hudson sees him and Moss same way since Ubektistan. And great shame Dan Keats performances overlooked, Auckland City and NZFC much better career ground

Gleeson ranked best MLS keeper at the moment. Great to see him first, especially above the legend Tim Howard.

Nope - Moss has been called up but been available/injured, James hasn't. James/Keat odd ones yes.

Seems everyone agrees that our top 3 keepers are 1. Gleeson then Moss or Marinovic as numbers 2 & 3.

Hudson has never worked with Gleeson, but given his recent form in MLS - he's likely to play at least one of the friendlies and possibly both. If Hudson plans to play big Jake in both games - there is absolutely no point in taking Moss stateside just to get splinters on his arse. The gaffer can watch him week in, week out in the A League to get a handle on his form.

The Nix are already short staffed as it is for their first 2 games. Moss can come into the squad later in the year, for Island qualifier games. Will save NZF the cost of an economy return ticket for one of the European based keepers.

Marinovic has done a really good job for AWs to date, but is now at a stage in his career where he needs to be playing at a higher level. He may be only playing 4th Division at moment - but Germany has always been renowned for it's high standard of goal keeping, so imagine he's getting access to some quality coaching etc. Hopefully his club Unterhaching get promoted to Budesliga 3 at season's end, otherwise his agent needs to get busy.

Gleeson sits high in the MLS stats, he narrowly lost out to Frank Lampard as MLS player of the month, we're not just talking about MLS, but someone who is at the top of it, he's more than earned that #1 spot, glad to see there are a few people who have actually had a look at his form including NZ football. Moss and Hudson mustn't see eye to eye on something. It could be that Moss doesn't want to be picked if he's not going to be #1 which is fair enough. I'm astounded Jason Pine put Gleeson at 36 on the All White power rankings, he must not google very well.
