All Whites v Socceroos Match Thread
By contrast our guys were very professional about the whole thing. Good job guys.
Elsewhere, I think I saw that Tim had an x-ray on his shoulder.
Aside from all that - I think we have clearly made our case for an formal competitive Trans-Tasman cup, to be played home-and-away (home leg at the RoF, of course) - yearly if at all possible, bi-yearly if necessary.
"Bertos was seen walking comfortably on the sideline later in the game"
"Meanwhile, midfielder Tim Brown had an x-ray on a shoulder injury last night, but is also expected to be fit for the European camps."
Disappointed in you, Timmy.
As far as I can tell, we've learned: (a) our strikers are sh*t-hot in the air; (b) do NOT repeat NOT let Simon Elliot take long-range shots; (c) do NOT repeat NOT let Andy Boyens on the park at all; (d) refs always favour the stronger team (in terms of foul play, mysteriously extending injury time, etc), so do not fall asleep after time's up on the clock.
1) how we changed to constant long balls in the 2nd half (like to think it has something to do with brown and bertos off tho)
2) those tackles
3) the aussies reaction after we scored (why you guys so happy it only a friendly - result doesn't matter kinda stuff, then comes now....)
but the main annoyance is the long ball tactic, we were great in the first half, some of the best football i've seen the all whites play. but the 2nd half we were awful... australia wasn't much better in 2nd half, i think they scored because we just kept giving ball back
Chch can make as strong a claim to host as ROF though
were a bit unlucky but you got to take ya chances
Sigmund had a good game, that's important for me
6 substitutions happened.
I don't think we can criticise our team too much for the second half performance. We were missing Bertos, Brown, Locky etc.....when you drag in 6 subs then you often lose your shape a bit.
:( who's going to take his place. Duncan Oughton?

Any verification on this?

Brown has already undergone scans but faces further assessment after suffering a fracture to his right shoulder.

By subbing on Boyens I thought we took the foot off the throat a bit, as Boyens would naturally sit deeper and offer less in attack, allowing Australia to play higher up and string some passes through the midfield.
without Brown we are f**ked. I feel so much for him, if he is indeed going to miss out on WC. He's the most consistant player both at the Nix and AW's. He runs himself into the ground every week and has scored heaps last season. Elliott is more classy but you saw yesterday that he can't take the full 90' at that level.

Backed. Total garbage
Brown and Elliot work well as Brown does a lot of work off the ball and puts opposing midfielders under pressure with his physicality. WeeMac did play well, but doesnt get into peoples faces like Brown does. So how well does a combination of McGlinchey and Elliot fit our current tactics?
