There's basically a rivalry between football and rugby in NZ and that's where these squabbles come from. Cricket and F1 fans don't see football as a threat. Football fans don't get harassed by cricket and F1 fans for the sport they follow.
edit: not that I really care. It is fun to have a silly pointless rivalry sometimes - kinda like the Nix and ACFC
