Good looking team.

Has killen retired? Or just no longer in the plans?

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Ridenton and Adams are the two that really should not be there. I can understand that they are in country and its not an issue with the window so it makes it easy but telling me they better than Keat/Henderson? I'm trying to think of another CB but surely not Luke Adams as the next best. If so, WOW.

Yeah I know hence why I mentioned they are in country and not in a window.

Ok is Eagar a DM or a CB?? Everyone talks about him as a DM for a Phoenix but now we are calling for him as a CB for the AWs? My head is spinning.

Has played DM in the past, currently playing CB in the VPL.

And as there are only five defenders selected, if any of the other four pick up a knock, Adams will be on. Let's hope it won't be an early knock.

James and Adam join Lochhead and Christie as players from Unattached FC to get the call up to the All Whites within the last 6 months.

Actually James was unattached in the Japan game and the WCQs

I forgot about the Japan game, so yeah, it's just Adams. I'm pretty sure there were only two unattached players for Mexico though?

It certainly shows the lack of depth in New Zealand when unattached players are still making the national team.

Would say Adams will show up at Western Springs shortly.

How many games has Tuiloma represented NZ at FB at all age levels? BTW, how many games has Alaba played CM for Bayern Munich?

I'm sure the NZ coaches would know where Bill Tuiloma is comfortable to play.

Not really. I lol when I read articles saying 'Phoenix aren't interested in Chris James' because they have someone like Alex Rufer on the books. No disrespect to Alex Rufer, but Chris James is a far better player. And while it may seem unfair to have someone like Rufer make way for James, i think that's probably what's needed. Rufer is shaping up to be just another one of these kids who we never see take the field, where as James would be expected to make a real good go of it.

I disagree. He was unavailable for selection for a part of our season because he was sitting exams etc. Also, he was signed with a look ahead to the future, rather than expecting him to impact the first team straight away. And he is one of the three mandatory U21 players in our squad.

James on the other hand has an attitude problem (allegedly) and has been at 7 clubs in the past 6 years. If he was really so good, why hasn't he been able to stay at a club for longer than 2 seasons?

Anyway, this is completely off topic.

Zlatan has played at 5 clubs in the past 5 years. It's a poor argument in trying to say someone is a bad player.

Three for me, and two for them.

Just a point on Tuiloma.....great prospect for sure but people have got a bit carried away that he has signed for a big club like Marseille. The reality is that Tuiloma has was at Birkenhead last August. He came to Marseille and played a few games for their reserve side.....which is in CAF2.....which is fifth Division in France(and a regional division). The club then decided he was better suited to their U19 side. Which plays regionally in the great Provence area. i.e it is a age group competition with teams from villages and suburbs around Marseille and across Provence. Bill did play a handfull of games for the Marseille U19 side in the CL U19 tournament...which was great. He did get called into the top OM squad.....they wanted to have a look at him...but he did not get on the field and went back to the U19 side.

I am not trying to  belittle Bills achievements but in reality he is playing youth football in a regional competition in France. The Japan game showed just how far off the pace he is for top football, especially when he is being played in a position for the AW's ( LB) and he spends all his time at Marseille playing and training as a DM.

I think the kid should be left alone and let him develop at Marseille.....he could be a fantastic footballer one day. But he is still a teenager learning the game. He plays for NZ because our talent pool is so shallow. I just hope people don't judge him too harshly against South Africa.....its a big jump from youth regional football to full internationals

Although a decent argument to say they are a cock....

So now it sounds like none of the Bafana as well as the AW players want this match.

Seems like the only people who care about this game are the spectators who have bought tickets to it.

ahhh shambles. The one thing holding this game together was the full strength SA team. Now we have nothing, except, as patrick said, a handful of ticketholders.

Just bought my ticket to find out what the PAX is, it's 4524. Take into account that a bunch of those tickets will be complimetary that won't be used, it turns out theres not actually that many spectators who care about it either.

Auckland, on a Friday night.... Not the smartest day to have it. Needed to be a Saturday and get everyone off from football.

Under 5000? This could have been a good chance to have a game in a smaller centre like Napier or Nelson. From a pure novelty point of view you'd get at least 8000 surely..
