All Whites V Tahiti Saturday 13th 7:00pm
Wondering if Reid will make it.
"Winston Reid suffered a back spasm that was still being looked at on Monday morning."

I reckon they would use Ivan as back-up and perhaps add a midfielder, or (more likely) go with one less player.
Interesting one for Boxall, would he rather sit on the bench for the AWs or play 90 for the Phoenix.
Also, Is Boxall really behind Ivan in the AWs pecking order or is this just a matter of spreading resources around?
Normo's coming home
If Ivan is our best bet, then Ricki needs his head read.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
Hang on, we're not talking about Ivan starting at centre-back.
We're talking that if Reid doesn't turn up, and if one of Sigmund, Smith or Nelsen went down, and if we were determined not to switch to 4 at the back then Ivan might need to cover at Centre-Back. So three events would have to occur for it to be a need... odds?
HN, that's correct but in a system where we play 3 centre backs, which we have done for almost all of the last 4 years, he is first reserve in that position for this set of matches.
Normo's coming home
Vicelich is a quality player who can read the game well.... he just doesn't have the legs for it.
Boxall is a great athlete, who needs game time to develop. Rather he stay with the Nix and get a good shift in than sit on pine. It'll be his first competative 90 for a long time.
For now happy for it to be Vicelich over Boxall.
Interesting call would be Boyens... his recent NZ form has been awful, but has seemed to do well recently at LA as a squad player. Will he ever get another shot?? Still young enough.
Squad player in the MLS isn't a great standard really

Nelsen and Reid under injury cloud
October 10, 2012
The bulk of the All Whites squad has arrived in Auckland injury free ahead of their Oceania World Cup qualifiers against Tahiti in Papeete on Saturday (NZT) and Christchurch on Tuesday.
New Zealand Football confirmed today that Ryan Nelsen and Winston Reid are still in London after picking up injuries over the weekend and are receiving treatment from their respective club medical teams.
Nelsen has remained in London to have a knee injury assessed by QPR medical staff after receiving a knock at West Bromwich Albion, while Reid is still awaiting the results of scans after suffering from back spasms in the loss to Arsenal.
The squad flies out to Tahiti on Thursday (NZT) and if all goes well Nelsen and Reid could link up with their international teammates in Tahiti.
“We’ve been aware of the injuries since the weekend, and unfortunately they have prevented the players from travelling,” said New Zealand Football High Performance Director Fred de Jong.
“We will continue to liaise with the players and medical staff at their respective clubs to give them the best possible chance of playing for the All Whites,” de Jong added.
de Jong is hopeful Nelsen and Reid would be available the return leg in Christchurch next Tuesday night and echoed the comments made by Chief Executive Grant McKavanagh yesterday.
“We're looking at the continuity within this team, between now and next November,” said de Jong.
All of the 18-man squad were involved in the first two fixtures against New Caledonia and Solomon Islands in September.
The All Whites continue their campaign against Oceania champions Tahiti in Papeete on October 13 (NZT) before the return fixture in Christchurch three days later.
If we don't have those two, we have to go 4 at the back.

Leo Sigmund Smith Lochhead
Always such awful timing with these injuries. It's the darnedest thing.
Allegedly
Dan Keat has spent a bit of time playing CB for LA.
Clutching at straws?

Yes, we know you have a thing for Hogg. You could try just one post where you don't mention his name though.
No part of him is the left man in a back three in an international we HAVE to win.
if they want to stay with three at the back, it's not unlikely they'd go with Sigmund, Smith and Vicelich...
orrrrr just get boxall and play a boxall siggy smith back 3 and promote solomons against heart
p.s ian hogg
so siggy vicelich smith it is then...
hopefully they all play a full 90
paston
siggy vicelich smith
bertos mcglinchey payne lochhead
rojas smeltz barbarouses
bench; moss, keat, killen, wood & brockie and the spirit of ian hogg
Lochead could shift into the back 3 if there is an injury. Or they could switch to a back 4 and play something like
Bertos Siggy Smith Lochead
Rojas McGlinchy Keat Kosta
Wood Smeltz
In fact I think that would be a useful exercise for the future.

he aint leaving out vicelich and he's playing 3 at the back for sure
I don't know about that...
Times are a chaning with Ricki... we had youth and a passing game the other day which was unheardd of previously.
Maybe he'll start thinking maybe we can do this at international level as well?
Passing game wasn't unheard of. In the first two seasons the Phoenix playing style got a whole lot of love.
Being a bit lazy to search, but if i remember correctly there wont be any coverage of the game in Tahiti. Is that the case? or is the Tahiti game getting coverage.
If we build it, they will come...
