Thomas out, Joel Stevens in. WTF has Fenton done wrong?

Played RB for the Nix.  We have depth at wide mid by AW standards right now.

I would argue that Fenton at his best is better than both Boyd and Payne. I can see why he wasn't picked with his injury though.

Maybe Fenton just wanted to stay with his club to solidify his place in the starting XI, and help them win promotion?

Boyd over Fenton any day personally.

Fenton plays with his head down too much imo... i think a lot of people can't get over his debut goal.

The convenience argument doesn't really stack up given Monty was sent over to replace Joel in the U20s, surely Fenton could have taken the flight instead of Monty?

Of course, so he's in because its easier to fly him to Doha than flying Louis from Wellington?

Er, how exactly do they "over promise"?

Kotahitanga. We are one.

Maybe we just expect more from Boyd/Fenton then they are capable of? I think they are too young to draw any definitive conclusions on.

any news on the starting 11?

i'm wondering, given that we have 4 centre backs over there, and given that chile played with a back 3, if we might be lining up with 3 at the back

None of our centre backs play in a back 3 for their club sides, so not sure they are very comfortable playing in one. Without someone the quality of Nelsen telling them where to be, we have looked a shambles at the back other times we have tried it.

Over promising, no. Over hyped, possibly. Too completely different things though.

Time for some lineup speculation. I'm going with a 4-2-3-1: Moss; Doyle, Reid, Durante, Roux; Tuiloma, James; Kosta, McGlinchey, Brockie; Wood.

Couldn't do it in diagram form on my phone...

Getting up at 2am will suck, but watching the all whites with the likes of Reid and Wood is well worth it.

45 minutes to game day.

This

I guess two players get chucked in the deep end. Can Tuiloma show that he potentially might be the answer to our DM problems?. Big call for a 19 yo to anchor the midfield against a good side like Uzbecks but you never will know unless you try him out. He has had a year and a bit at Marseille where they have been grooming him for that position......he will be fine IMO

Doyle's selction will complete a meteoric rise....A international before an A-League match. But he showed against the EPL sides that he can play at at a higher level.

Can't believe some people are suggesting Brockie start....on what basis?  Wood will start up top. Brockie is way too slow for a wide midfielder at international level.  IMO there is little basis for him to be in the squad.....however maybe this time because of injuries to Marco and Thomas. Zero goals in 40 + internationals.....LOL

just chucked a couple of quid on us to win this.  After being battered by William Hill in the weekend with the GAA, NFL and cricket, I really need this (which made my bet even more stupid).
