Just received an alert from Ticketek:
Dear My Ticketek member,

Thai Airways All Whites vs Fiji
Saturday 13 October, 4pm, North Harbour Stadium
Your chance to win a signed Nike All Whites Ball!

New Zealand will open their campaign for the 2010 FIFA World Cup against Fiji in Albany on 13 October 2007 after agreeing to a revised Oceania qualifying draw.

Wellington's Westpac Stadium will remain the venue for All Whites home qualifier against Vanuatu which will now be played on 21 November 2007, four days after New Zealand play in Port Vila which is expected to be up to scratch by November. New Zealand will round out their Oceania qualifying campaign against South Pacific Games champions New Caledonia in Noumea on 6 September 2008 next year before the return leg in New Zealand four days later.

The eventual Oceania champion automatically qualifies for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa as well as a home and away World Cup playoff against Asia's fifth-ranked qualifier.

Ryan Nelsen has been named captain and Glasgow Celtic striker Chris Killen, Dutch first-division defender Ivan Vicelich and UK-based midfielder David Mulligan - the latter currently on loan at Grimsby Town from Sc**thorpe United - have all been named.

As a special offer, My Ticketek members who book tickets online to the Thai Airways All Whites vs Fiji match will go into the draw to win a signed Nike All Whites Ball! View terms and conditions.

BOOK NOW!

Before the fixture switch, I was anticipating getting to both the Fiji and Vanuatu games. I can't be in Auckland on the 13 Oct, so will be watching on television instead.

sounds like Fiji are more badly organised than NZ. They cant even sort out Visas.

Ricki reckons Nelsen will be back for Vanuatu games - but I somehow doubt it

I might look at going up myself, as long as I can arrange transport. What part of the stadium will we take over as the improptu Fever zone?

PS If anyone is driving up and back and has a seat or two free, I'd be keen to carpool and help pay for gas

Does anyone know if the seating is allocated?

Permalink Permalink

According to the Ticketek site, it is general entry - so no allocated seating.

I ascertained this by taking a ticket purchase through to the penultimate step before cancelling.

I went the easier route SiNZ, sent NZ Football an email and they assured me it's GA.

Bring your singing voices to the BLoc.

I'm going to the game free courtesy of my blue suit (I'm a plod). I intended to take the day off anyway so I could go to the game but when I was asked if I wanted to do stadium duty (i.e stand in the aisle and watch for free) I couldn't resist. Wonder if my sergeant will allow me to wear my All Whites scarf?

According to something I read at work today they are expecting 14,000 and its general admission.

Come and say hi to us in the Bloc HH.  I'll be the lardy one in an All Whites strip (that should narrow it down).

f**k! I have a game at 9.30 and a game at 1.30. So it'll be a mad rush to get to the game. Which means no drinks before the game :@ Well pissed off.

Oh well least I get to the game, drink after :D

Can't find anything about this - but have the Bula Boys received their Visas?  Rather important to the game going ahead.  I have a feeling that persuading the Labour government that qualification for the WC is an international event is about as likely as a Stalin accepting capitalism...

Crap... maybe I'll cancel my trip...

Speights Ale House Oteha Valley Road from 12:00 for anyone keen for a pre-match lager.  I'll probably have my Retro Ricki on at the Ale House, but AW's gear at the match.
