Moss-  7 - could've done a little better on goals, but exposed too many times. Brilliant double save

Reid - 6 - Did ok, wasn't at his best but not the worst
Vicelich - 3 - worst I've seen the Godfather play, out of place and slow to react
Boyens - 4 - Only slightly better than Ivan

Boxall - 4 - positioning off
Fitzgerald - 3 - Looked out of sorts all half

Brown - 3 - Anon
Elliot - 5 - a few decent passes, a few poor ones.

Barbarouses - 5 - looked out of depth but tried hard
Smeltz - 3 - also missing
Wood - 7 - worked hard and defended well, missed a decent chance though

------------SUBS-----------

Mulligan - 7 - Some great deliveries and got stuck in
Killen - 6 - Some classy touches
Brockie - 6 - Looked quite good
McGlinchey - 6 - Some good touches
Sigmund - 8 - Beast
Clapham - 6 - did ok

Moss - 8.5 - amazing save and kept the scoreline from blowing up, got caught out once.
Vicelich - 4 - Only reason its not 3 or less is because he saved us from a certain goal in the 1st half
Barbarouses - 7 - Decent
Smeltz - 6
Wood - 7
Mulligan - 5
Sigmund - 7

Otherwise agree

Brown? Was he even there? Woeful, doesn't deserve a rating at all.

Surprised people are giving good ratings to Wood, I thought he was woeful - terrible control, always a couple of steps behind, and the one chance he got he fluffed really badly. He has to do much better if he wants to play at the level he aspires to.

Turns out there is a worse RB than Mully in NZ.

I like Tim Brown but I've never seen a footballer so poor at international level.

I thought Fitzgerald was absolutely awful, maybe give him the benefit of the doubt because he was played out of position, but on that performance I'd give him a 2.

And Elliot a 4 instead of a 5, he deserves to drop at least one for the most awful backpass I've ever seen.

The best player on the park for us was Siggy. He was aggressive, mostly good positional and for the most part the timing of his tackles was spot on.

I thought Fitzgeralds passing was good. He lost his footing multiple times when changing direction, I think he would have gone a lot better if he was familiar with the ground and worn the appropriate footwear. Did the NZ players even inspect the ground before playing? A lot of them had the same problem. Anyway I really like the look of him and think giving him a 2 is stupidly off the mark.

I just thought he was completely outplayed by his opposite number, the amount of times there was a mexican with acres of space was woeful

I agree with both. He was good on the ball, but was caught out of position when defending.

Probably not a system or position he is used to playing but does show some potential. Bullion2011-06-03 16:03:05

This game proved one thing that has probably been obvious for a while: Brown is too one dimensional for decent quality internal fixtures.  Ideal vs Islands, rubbish against anyone else.

He's a right sided player asked to play a left wingback against a team as classy as Mexico. U agree thought his passing was good.
