Peru are suspending their national league from October 20th until November 15th, and their coach will arrive in NZ 10 days before the 11th to prepare for the game.

Players going to arrive midweek before the 11th.

Mangled Translation wrote:
Garcia Pye revealed that the initial plan of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) is to have at least two days for players to train in New Zealand and adapt to the schedule, where there are seventeen hours difference from Peru, as well as twenty hours from Lima.

For this reason, Peruvians will hire a charter flight from Peru - if they can bring together 13 or 14 players - and hope that the rest of the players who work in other countries will travel directly to Wellington.

Finally, Gareca announced that he will travel to New Zealand ten days before the first leg to take the necessary precautions, while at the same time initiating efforts so that the players who play in foreign clubs are given in advance, something complicated, especially in the case of Paolo Guerrero, a Brazilian Flamengo figure.

Smith in for Dura if fit. Not sure about Kosta, he hasn't really done much in this formation recently. Would be tempted to put Thomas wide and bring in a proper DM in Tuiloma

What?

Smith!  Wood on the brain.  I am a little dubious about Boxall's positioning and also temperament, he's been lucky in the past few games not to be sent off once or twice

how many of our squad would make their starting 11?

Reid, Wood and Thomas?

Probably not Thomas, their midfield's solid. Wood would have competition with their striker Ruidiaz who is also very good. Weak defense though so I could see Smith or Doyle coming in as well as Reid. Rojas could go right wing, he'd flourish in a South American team imo

In Myan opinion, this will be a dirty game. Expect to see lits of diving as if shot by a 50 Caliber sniper. Instead of Kazoos,  might I suggest pan flutes? El Condor Pasa.

New FIFA Rankings released today - Peru up two places to tenth in world.

Yay, we're playing a top ten side now !!!

All Whites down nine places to 122.

The rankings will always be weighted for European and South American comps and shouldn't be the definitive world guide. If we were part of Conmebol I'm sure we'll be around the top 50 even if we never won a game.

We have a chance - we have a quality striker and a decent back three. With a little luck, we can win.

Fixed. But yes we are a chance.

Going to both games myself. Flight to Peru booked - as part of an extended South American trip. Great fun no matter what the result.

Never really understand how the rankings work. They have not qualified for the World Cup in 36 years. They did come 3rd in the 2011 and 2015 Copa America and lost in the quarter final in 2015. They came 5th in South American qualifying. Why are they considered the 10th best team in the world?
