After seeing that, if our top 11 are fit and can start, we'll beat them in Lima. The pressure will be too much for Peru.

What a game Reid had, with him in the team anything is possible, if him and wood start the next leg, we have a real chance

if we score an away goal, i think we can go through, the pressure will be too much for Peru to handle.  The key in Lima is not to concede early.  Well done boys!

Apologies for bumping my own post, but I'm a huge Thomas fan. He's better than the Eredivisie. That run at the end (despite the mis-kick) after running non-stop for 90+ minutes...

Head and shoulders man of the match. But everyone gave their all. We hassled and harried them without pause and had them worried in that last 10 minutes.

Solid at the back, very few crosses from Peru or drives into the box from out wide...so credit our wingbacks for not being rinsed majorly. Solid through the middle also thanks to our cms and Reid. WeeMac ran ran and made some mistakes but harried well. Thomas = great. Wood = impacting.

Great result, pressure now on Peru to scrape through in front of what will be a raucous home crowd in Lima.

Hope Wood is going to be alright for 90 minutes - the quality, touches and spark he brought for the last 20 or so minutes really got us on the front foot.

Reid, Thomas and Boxall all immense today.

Great to have football at the forefront of sport in New Zealand for the moment too!

I am no fan of him from past games but I was pleasantly surprised that Colvey held his own

Thought Bill also added some much needed physicial presence when he came on

Thomas is a nice player

If we have Everyone fit and can bulge the net once in Lima we will make it

Haven't read much of the thread yet, but I think we can all agree that Wood looked more dangerous when he came on than anyone else in the 70mins prior.

Effectively 2 goals for every 1 scored next week for us. Peru will be chucking everything at us including the kitchen sink. We're so close!

We played really really well, credit to Hudson for the tactics defensively. Peru are definitely bottling it, I reckon if we can go another half without conceding we will win. That would have been one of the best AWs goals had Thomas scored. Now to think of an excuse to leave work early on Thursday...

Sorry to drop in some reality. Hudson needs to go. Pointlessly negative tactics, fine to leave wood if they were worried but starting Rojas and Kosta was a very poor decision, when Brockie was on the bench.

It's fun and all that we finished 0-0 at home, but that's just not enough to get us to the world cup.

Thomas had a fab game. Great atmosphere, but my overall feeling are of disappointment post game.

Air NZ 777 commercial I believe. They don’t fly direct to Lima though. They take another 4 hour flight.

I thought they would smash us, so I‘m happy with the draw, to bad Wood csme so late. All in all a great day with 37.000 other fans at the stadium. We can keep on dreaming.

I've been a massive critic of Hudson and I still am baffled by some of his calls, but you can't argue with that result IMO. The fifth best team in South America isn't to be sniffed at. In the last couple of years they've beaten Brazil in a competitive game and got draws against Argentina and Colombia.

They didn't get an away goal and now the pressure is on them at home. If we get a goal, they need 2...

If you go through previous threads you will find I am one of Hudsons biggest critics but I thought that was a very controlled and disciplined performance with a very clear game plan. Our failings werent Hudsons but the reality that man for man for the majority of the teams Peru have better players and are a team which has played many more games together than our squad.

Brockie wouldnt have made any difference. The problem with respect to our attack was the lack of ability to get the ball forward to players in attacking positions. Brockie wouldnt have changed that one bit.

A draw might suit Hudson's CV, but won't get us to the world cup.
