Andy Martin cops it from a Peruvian in this letter...

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH

The worst part, however, was that the NZ Football Federation seemed to agree with its players. The name Andy Martin has become relatively well known in Peru and for all the wrong reasons. You see, according to him, New Zealanders needed to make life "hell" for our players. "This game is almost like a war" he said. And all because he thought he knew us quite well: we would be hostile to him and his team. Noisy and disruptive, because everyone knows how South Americans are.

In fact, should any of Mr Martin's predictions come true, I and many others will decidedly rally to New Zealand's defence. That I can promise. Football has to bring us together. That is why Mr Reason's column is so important. For many of us, he has changed the discourse and given us back the match we were hoping for: one where aggression and preconceptions would play no part.

His column has been highlighted by Peruvian media and his words have made many Peruvians share it on social media with great emotion. True football ethos is at work again! New Zealand and Peru can now face each other as brothers, never enemies, because that is what football can do for us. I would hate to see us driven apart by the thoughts and prejudices of Mr Martin. We are not the violent hooligans his preconceptions might suggest, just as much as you are not "that island next to Australia".

Incredible, Martin's made MARK REASON appear to be a sane voice of peace....
