I suppose we'll never know what truly happened. Perhaps they were just working on their ball play.
All Whites vs Peru | Second leg | Thurs 16 Nov | 3:15pm | SS1
Any foul calls?
Difficult to keep a clean sheet in those circumstances
No reports of linesmen involved I hope
Anyone wanna talk about the actual football?
20 mins to go before a huge match like that and the pub was still more attractive for quite a few in a particular zone...

Steady on.
going back to football
Ryan Thomas has huge potential. I could see a big Dutch club getting him and from there who knows.
Rojas was a disappointment over the two legs
Marinovic had two world class moments vs Farfan

At least the real/true football fans (the Peruvians) were in the ground by then creating an atmosphere.;-0....
(ducking for cover)
Jesus this thread after the match has turned to shark.

All we can see in that picture if a photo of Tuiloma getting a kiss on the cheek - and Rojas photobombing in the background.
I think some people are getting carried away.
Sean Dyche didn't pick Wood because he'd got off the plane Friday morning and gone straight to training, rather than any injury.
Interesting that Dyche's opinion so far was 'he was fine when he left us, he was fine when he came back' in terms of injury - whereas Hudson was insistent Wood was unfit to play.

Odd. You'd assume that if Hudson wanted to drop him he would have said that, maybe it's convenient to blame the injury now it didn't come off (cynic alert)
Ricki (surprise) right on the money
Looking back on the two games against Peru, a 0-0 draw in Wellington and 2-0 loss in Lima, Herbert said the biggest disappointment was the fact that the All Whites did not get a single shot on target across both legs.
"I think the biggest disappointment, given the very comprehensive programme that this current group have had, to have 180 minutes of football and not get a shot on target will probably be the ultimate disappointment given the fact that a single goal may have been the difference of going to a World Cup or not."
Even if he was only good for 45 minutes, Herbert was surprised Hudson did not start Wood in Lima.
"From my perspective he should have started, but that's an opinion," he said.
"You invest, like New Zealand Football did, about $8million or $9million, which is a massive amount of money to [then] err on the side of caution.
"I'm not saying this with it being easy after the event. What I am saying is that, with such a well resourced campaign, where he wouldn't have left any stone unturned. Our best possibility of scoring a goal is Chris Wood and we didn't see a lot of him until the tie was finished or put into a position where we were going to be a bit more desperate than we needed to be."

as we lost I am more keen about learning more about these hookers

The thread of the postponed WSW game has veered towards Mermaids discussion, probably for the same reasons of unfulfilled hopes.

Yeah, looks like i'm responsible for all of this lmao. #pleaseforgiveme
The Journey Fan got some great pics...of the FIRST leg.
The difference in the pics of the Peruvian fans and ours sum it up don't they? NZ crowds very stoic in comparison.
as are the hookers

That's the way of it. What irks me is the hostility, expressed verbally, towards us for starting a few chants before kickoff from... other AW fans. Such is life.
I can understand not being into too much excitement, its just the way I prefer to watch my football but I love watching the likes of Yellow Fever and others getting right into it, I'd never rip into them for that, it adds atmosphere.
"is not the perfect pop song the closest thing to the goal?"
A lovely piece by a Peruvian, linking football to "the Dunedin sound"
Thanks to Russell Brown at Public Address for posting it.
Some absolutely fudgeing mental news coming out of a less-than-reputable source, but nevertheless I’m excited. Even if it is from The Sun, it all sounds completely plausible.
TL;DR: Peru could be excluded for the World Cup due to government interference in their football. Happened before when they shut down the FAs of Kenya and Indonesia. Most likely candidates to go in their place? New Zealand.

Due to proposed government interference with a new bill about to be passed. They'll stop it if that's the case.
re link used above. No, just no. Hillsborough.
Big story here in Peru.

Reyna of course is a team mate of Marinovic's at Vancouver, and was in the Peru squad for recent playoffs. I think called in when Guerrero was suspended?.
Apartment where girl died apparently owned by Reyna, and 'rumours' of drug taking.

Never underestimate the stupidity of politicians, particularly those in Peruvian parliament.
Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) has been shut down ir threatened to be shut down by FIFA before. Happened in 2001, 2005, 2008 and more recently in 2014. Sanctions didn't last long as the government stepped back. Actually they shouldn't have stepped back, the interference in those cases was due to corruption allegations against Manuel Burga, the then head honcho of the FPF. That guy is no longer in charge and is now facing the US courts on corruption charges (taking bribes to award TV rights for CONMEBOL tournaments.
Back in 2014, according to surveys 61% of Peruvians supported government interference in FPF despite the risk of losing FIFA affiliation, there was little hope of qualifying to the WC. Today with a WC ticket and Manuel Burga gone public support for for FPF is high and politicians enacting a law that puts the WC spot at risk would face strong backlash.
It would have been quite different had Peru come 6th in the South American qualifiers.
I don't think the law will be enacted, but I have learnt not to trust politicians.
Prezzie for Aussi. Go Peru!
