Peru apparently will be very offensive

Ruidiaz will start with Farfan up front

Advincula will start at right back

4-1-3-2

First post to introduce myself.

I am Alex, born in Peru, lived 9 years in Melbourne, now back in Lima.

Have visited New Zealand twice, thoroughly enjoyed time there, impressed with the landscape and the good nature of people.

I am a big football fan and get to play twice a week with other parents at my kids school.

I have been reading the posts here the last few days and am keen to contribute, I believe you already have another Peruvian onboard the forum.

If that doesn't ruffle anyone's feathers I will add my two cents worth of commentary.

Less than 48 hours to the game I am as excited about it as you all are.

make outrageous predictions

defend them to the death

know more than your national team coach about football

and you'll fit right in :) ;)

looking forward to hearing your perspective

So just found to my disgust that Foxtel/Bein aren't televising the game. WTF? They show every WC qualifier from deepest darkest Africa, plus a bunch of meaningless friendlies but not this one?

Q: If I manage to avoid hearing the result is there some website that shows a replay of the game without giving the score in advance? I can't watch it live online because of bloody work.

That's how I survive week in week out...

Take your pick mate:

matchhighlight (.) com

fullmatchesandshows (.) com

fullmatchreplay (.) com

fullmatchsports (.) com

ourmatch (.) net

replaymatches (.) com

I usually open them one by one when I want to watch Roma replays and then choose the one based on video quality/preferred language (sometimes you get French or Russian or Arabic etc). Last time it took a day or so before they uploaded NZ v Peru...but sometimes they are very quick. Good luck!

Ok thanks for the welcome, now time for some commentary.

With 6 of the last 7 games in this playoff season it could happen that the game tomorrows ends 0-0 again in which case a penalty shootout will follow.

I am under the impression those taking penalties for Perú would be:

Farfán,

Rui Diaz (likely to come in a sub during the game)

Advincula

Carrillo

Cueva

I guess Chris Wood and Reid would be on the AW list.

Coaches must be giving the list a think in case it is needed.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if you would do better than S-Ventura (Italian pun turning his surname into 'misadventure').

WTF, Is this true? Why not? So if you're in Australia, no way to watch it? Fudge.

Wood, Thomas, ah ...

nah, we'll go for 1-1 thanks.

subbing on Brockie and Smeltz late doesn't make me feel any more comfortable with that pks idea

but if we even get that far I'll have had a fantastic Thursday

surely Peru aren't thinking like that, that's quite a compliment to our 1980's team

You are right about Carrillo, an alternative could be Renato Tapia who scored in the shootout against Colombia in last year's Copa America.  Both Cueva and Trauco missed their shots.

A spot of dancing outside the Peruvian embassy anyone. I have a photocopier, a pack of rothmans and a drum machine - just need a snake, haven't got a snake.

think it will be

               maro

           boxall   reid   smith

colvey                                 wynne

             lewis    thomas

                   weemac

            rojas       wood

Defenders will need to have the games of there lives

I would prefer bill to come in for weemac and boxall to play rb and themi to play cb however.

Feel like subs will play a big part in this game, which might not be good for us, as we dont reall have depth in numbers.

Kosta, bill, themi are the only quality i think we have on the bench tbh

Try Peggy Gordons first and then Crowded House. Both are probably not likely to be busy at that time of day......unless there's loads of likeminded football fans in there

I don't think they'll play McGlinchey behind the strikers, more likely in a DM role like the last match. If they play an AM surely it'd be Rojos with either Wood up front alone or with Kosta.
I don't think there will be any changes to the last line up unless forced by injury (or return from injury in Wood's case).

Do we know who the commentators are on Sky for this game? I'm guessing they will be commentating the usual Sky away approach (sitting in front of a TV in NZ and not actually at the game)?

Trains are on strike on Thursday in Wellington so that works really well with me not being able to get in to town for work hahaha so its get comfy at home ready to watch the game

Have managed to get out of work early on Thurs, which will let me get to 4Kings to watch.

Train strike has thrown a spanner in the works. Is anyone who is planning to watch game in Wellington, able/willing to offer me a lift home post-match to Paremata/Plimmerton area?

Even if I find a lift in to work, I'm doubtful I'll be able to convince them to wait until the end of the football in the evening :)

Piney is over there for NZ Herald and Newstalk ZB, not SKY, guarantee it will be Dewhurst and Harry/Fred in front of a screen in Auckland, telling us that the 'atmosphere is electric here'...
