I'm scratching my head a little with the Mcglinchey sub. Was he injured? Didn't seem so by how he ran off

Would've taken Lewis off personally. Not that it really makes a difference.

That first goal completely killed us. I thought we did well up until then.

Nice rugby tackle by Smith. Making a good habit of giving away pens against top tier euro teams.

All in all - about expected. We didn't get ripped apart. We put together a few nice moves, no real chances. But what else can we expect? Portugal are one of the best in the world and our team are a bunch of midgets. If Ronaldo doesn't get a hat-trick, we've done well.

We got the moral victory with Durante turning Ronaldo and Doyle nutmegging some other Portugese bloke. Oh, and Boxall literally ripping the shirt off someone.

Just before that goal Bill was shouting and pointing for Ingham to track him. Ingham stayed static.

Not a bad half all things considered. Ingham absolutely should not be playing this game. He is totally out of his depth. We have a quality a league right back who is captain of their club who is sitting on the bench. Yet we play someone who can't get a game in the a league. Wood has not helped his premier league chances

Wish we could maintain possession for longer.I reckon we could pinch one

True, but also there was a miscommunication with Tuiloma who had just come on, I thought. It seemed that previously they had been marking players down that flank and Tuiloma gave him some instructions and by the time they'd got it right the guy was away.

Stayed with his player- it seemed to me previous to Bill coming on the midfielder was tracking the runner and the wb was staying with the man. Looked to me like miscommunication

Because Boxall ripped that shirt. Boxall is not allowed Ronaldo's anymore, he is getting the ripped one

Can understand why Kiwis won't watch football the way the entitled whining pampered Portuguese are carrying on. Don't get a call- whine to the ref. Get a good bit of defensive work against you- go to ground.

vs Potential death in a high speed cat sinking or the constant contact of rugby.

It's a pity- this should be something to promote football for us.

Hope we can fight back. Pity about the soft second.

I give you that, Tuiloma hasn't been the DM we expect him to be in this tournament, looks a little bit out of depth

Not bad first half considering who we are playing. I like our attitude.....everyone is working as a team

We were great for the first 25 minutes and actually constructed some OK moves. We pressed well and actually got three shots away. After that Portugals class came through.

Poor Ingham...he's trying but he is a baby at this level. That second goal. Out on the touch he was being waved by Lewis to cover the fullback coming around the outside...but he stood and watched and the fullback ran into clear space....centred and bang....goal.

That was just inexperiance.....not dumping on the kid but what is this doing to his confidence? Thats three goals this Cup that have come down that side. Surely Hudson needs to do something about it.

Great seeing Ronaldho kept quite for 30 minutes by our famous defense. Smith has been good too!

Thomas looks so cool on the ball.....wonder if he will get picked up by anyone after this

For what it is worth I think Ingham has a tonne of promise and hasn't been too bad going forward -a  couple of unlucky calls against him.

Hoping for a Boxall Bobsled on Ronaldo after that show pony dancing crap.

Whenever we get the ball to Thomas or Rojas in good areas, they look really promising. The problem is that it barely happens; with the ball flying over the top of their heads for most of the game and Wood not being able to get anywhere near it.

Wood is a poor target man but a good CF. He's not being used properly either. He's good at laying it off, but not good at winning headers.

Refs seem pretty easily sucked in by simulations (don't they ever watch replays after matches to see what goes on?), and the Portuguese certainly obliging with plenty of overdramatised dives and death-rolls - even if they're not even touched - just like Mexico did. They just seem to favour the 'big' teams with rulings, just like that ridiculous lashing out that guy did against Boxall right in front of the benches and 4th official. I have to say Football remains continually embarassing and pathetic in that respect. Just such dirty, cynical play - and its rewarded! OK - rant made. We are going OK when we have the ball.

Watching that replay, Wood made that look harder than it should've been.  Dont think he expected it to get there. Shouldve scored.
