That quote sums up the shambles that is NZF. No accepting of any responsibility for a high profile public fudge up, combined with some delusional PR bullshark about "a full programme of activity around the game". A full programme of activity that doesn't include any games for their senior men's team.

They sound genuinely confused/hurt that some people made negative comments about them after they screwed up a transfer for the only professional club in the country.

Also screwed up in their selection of CEO (best of 179 applicants???!!! Laughable in retrospect)

And somewhere in that article it talked about Martin not going to a FIFA meeting but two other staff are and don't read too much into that.

My Question is why the fudge is two staff going to this meeting? Surely at best its is a one man job? What are they going to do, tee up games for us at home? I don't think so.

No doubt business class flights, getting drunk on the plane and no real work to do at the other end.

Whoever decided two needs to go needs to walk themselves.

The board is going.

Shaw, who is attending the Congress along with New Zealand Football Vice-President Michael Anderson and Executive Committee Member Paul Cochrane, said the review process of each candidate’s manifesto will continue until just before the election.

For example, arranging internationals for the All Whites? If they would like to fly me up first class for a meeting - might as well have a junket trip like the two going to a fifa meeting- I am more than happy to discuss what a screw up the NZF are.

Networking and credibility. Charlie Dempsey always said the biggest mistake he made during the whole Abstention vote thing was turning up by himself. It made him look vulnerable, and he had no one to turn to to discuss things with.

Fax was to slow and no one at NZF knew how the phone system worked back then, what do you mean time zone difference so no one was in the orifice.

Accidents and ACC - fair enough.

Just wish ACC would compensate the football public for all the other accidents that have occurred under Andys watch.

Wow! Three guys going to the FIFA meeting. Business class round the world airfares, top hotels, dining expenses. I sure hope that its FIFA not NZF that are picking up the tab for this.

As an aside when NZF recruit management people do they stipulate that some knowledge or empathy with football is required? Or do they just hire people with the right academic qualifications. Because it seems to be the cockups being made at NZF suggest that the people making them are not tuned into football.

I live on the other side of the planet but I still knew that the Nix were bringing over an English striker and that he would require clearance within the transfer window. Surely at NZF headquarters everyone who had an interest in football would have known the same thing. Surely the conversations over morning tea would have included the fact that NZ,s only pro side was bringing in a overseas striker and they(NZF) should be expecting a transfer request before deadline day.....do they live under a rock!

Martins background is rugby admin(and banking) Does he "get" football at all? Maybe he is a double agent planted by the International Rugby Board to sabotage football in NZ...LOL

Andy Gordies interview with the chairman of the board at NZF made me want to punch the screen. "they need to meet the people complaining about the way NZF is run to see what their issues are" FFS he does not know what people are upset about. Be deeply suspicious of any spokesperson who can say "stakeholders" and "moving forward" four times in one short interview.

Gareth Morgan said NZF is run like a suburban tennis club.....thats an insult to suburban tennis clubs!!!!

The way I hear it qualifications don't matter as long as you blindly agree with the CEO you are welcome to a position.

Do you work for NZF Midfielder? Andy would have told you that you cannot load something into the internet when you are out of coverage area.

I wonder if Andy Martin had any input into the ridiculous decision regarding the ASB league where if two teams find themselves on the same points its not who has the superior goal difference, like just about everywhere else in the world its who won the head to head so regardless if Hawks Bay  loose by 10 goals they still get second and potential O league spot. This coupled with a leaked email to the AK Secondary schools is not a good look For Mr Martin or poor old Team Welly for that matter

I actually like it that way. You're trying to split two teams so I think doing head to head is more relevant than how much each team can beat southern by. It's was gone this way in La Liga.

So potentially you could have three teams on the same points and the team in third place on goal difference wins it and that's a bit unfair on southern what about the weenix there good for a few goals maybe this why NZF brought this in I wonder why Team Welly didn't know, sorry I still don't like, but who am I to argue with the brains of NZF

But it's condensing it down to 2 results rather than a whole seasons worth of results. It's a much worse way of deciding imo.

So a team that finishes 5th on goal difference knocks a team in 4th place out of the semi finals because it beat them in the head to head what plonker would agree to that

ACFC youth team had a goal difference of +30 but lost to southern (+12 GD) in the first week so instead of finishing second finished 4th. Crazy way of deciding any league

The interesting thing re: ASB Premiership standings is that as far as I can tell, what happens is:

1-8 are ranked on points, then by GD.

Then once a top four is found, they are ranked on points. then by H2H.

At least, that's how I read all this:

21.6 The results of League matches will be recorded in a league table. The ranking of each Participant shall be determined as follows:

21.6.1 Greatest number of points obtained in all league matches;

21.6.2 Goal difference in all league matches;

21.6.3 Greatest number of goals scored in all league matches.

21.7 At the conclusion of the league, the top four placed Participants excluding the Wellington Phoenix shall qualify for The Championship. In the event of two or more of the Participants having equal points, their respective placing on the league table shall be determined as follows:

21.7.1 The head to head results between the teams equal on points.

21.7.2 The goal difference from the matches played between the teams equal on points.

Isn't Rugby head to head - that's probably why football does it here.
