Just being cheeky here...but he did turn Kosta into a top scorer and got Marco back into form this season.

Any chance of NZ football asking Ange to do a job with the AWs?

Wont happen. His last international stint went pretty badly; he's a club coach, not an international one.

Agreed, his system seems to need a lot of time to drill into players what he wants them to do. He just wouldn't get the time with a national squad to do it.

Honestly, if he hasn't got the Aussie job by then (and I can't see it happening given their current obsession with all things europe) I would be quite happy if we offered him the job once our current world cup cycle is over (either this year or next).  Not sure how popular the job our job would be for good european manages (given our lack of budget), so would possibly be a good option.

The issue above (time to drill the system) may be an issue, but its an issue for any national team coach to a greater or lesser degree.

Much as Aitkenmike said, regardless what coach you pick, they will all have the same problem of implementing their system. Ricki in some way is a head of the curve because he does work with a few of them at the Phoenix so there is a large familiarity there. (whether thats right or wrong is for others to argue)

And also dont forget that we only seem to play half as often as most other nations as well

The money NZ football could offer is probably less than he's on at Victory.

But the AWs coaching gig is not full time so it would be a top up and he could stay at Melbourne

So the best option is for Ange to coach the phoenix with a squad of at least 16 kiwis in it and then he could role straight into Aw's role as the players will have been playing the system!!! Wouldn't take long for the pro's to pick up the system. Problem solved.

It won't happen but someone mentioned that he is a club coach rather than an international one.

I guess the fact he coached the Oz U20's for seven years counts for nothing.

What was his record like as Aus u20 coach? Only thing that ever gets mentioned about that tenure is 'that' interview.

You'd assume his record was the reason for "that" interview though.
