Far out mate, NZ could rip the nasal hairs out of almost all of those teams, so we would be placed well over the halfway line. I think, with our top team, we could beat Bahrain, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait.
the pathetic efforts put in by Kingz/Knights etc?
Not a personal attack HH just think the AW vs 5th Best Asian Mob would set WELLINGTON off!
it will be interesting to see what crowds they do get in auckland now that the qualifiers are all that they have. if the crowds are too low, i'm looking forward to christchurch and wellington becoming the new homes of the national side.
Below was the starting line-up for the first game against Malaysia last year. A lot of these players have developed in the last 18 months. Add in Chris James, Killen, Elliot, Nelsen, Vicelich, Mulligan, Lochead etc. It is a different ball game now. Our full squad should be able to compete against the 5th place Asian team. We wouldn't be favourites but we should be in the postiton to cause an upset. If we send a team like below, then we would get our ass kicked.
Glen Moss (debut)
Jeremy Christie
Danny Hay
Steven Old
Noah Hickey
Leo Bertos
Tim Brown
Andy Barron (debut)
Adrian Webster
Brent Fisher
Vaughan Coveny
Subs from:
Ross Nicholson, James Pritchett, Andy Boyens, Cole Tinkler,
Craig
Wylie, Jeff Fleming, Shane Smeltz, Jarrod Smith, Campbell Banks

Well, I admire your optimism. I think that Nelsen is the only international-class player we have, and that the only way for us to improve our international performance is to follow Australia's path and join the Asian confederation. It'll probably take us a few years or so to become fully competetive, but I see it as the only way forward.

Subs used were Brockie. Fleming and Smeltz.
Looking at that lot I can't see Fleming or Nicholson ever playing for us again, Cov's ,Hay and Noah have retired and Banks, Wylie, Webster and Fisher have some work to do to be in the frame if we're a close to full strength.
