I have checked the 2 games that Auckland city  played for the clubs world cup, it was  broadcasted  here  live  on fox sports  in argentina

the broadcasters  only knew  before hand  IVAN VICELICH,  then they  remarked  some  players for the  national team  specially  goalkeeper  they said  he was  the best player vs  Atlante.,  they remarked  the hard work  that  number  8 did with  number  16  on the right flank, and  the  tiny  number  3 on the left side ,.,

for  what i saw   yes  Spoonley is  a keeper that is ready  for the next step at club and  country level,   they said  when they were broadcasting that  some  teams  from  LA LIGA  were  after the  young keeper.,

and Coombes  played well  as rb, solid,  fast  ala  Emerton,  they said  that  Hayne was  affected  by the negative  aproach of the game taht the manager used,

they  said that  Hayne 16,  was the best attacking weapon that they had,  but was always  alone and  restricted  in a position that  should not help him, they said  that  he should have played  behind 2 strikers  to  have  a better  look

also they said that  the small left back  played good  game and  from what i saw  he  can be tested  at this level,  hogg

Those  apart  from Vicelich,  were  the  only  4 players that  the journalist remarked as good players  for this level,,

maybe  Herbert  can put up a  local based all whites  to get some competition and add  some player pool for the world  cup,.,    i do no think that  he will take  the whole  18 that played in nov  for the world  cup,  that  was  just  another chapter ....world cup is  there,  and maybe he needs some  player pool...

what do you think, ?  a true  all whtes fan from argentina

I've been thinking for a while that it would be good to have an international at home sometime before the WC. I expect that (as it would probably have to be outside the FIFA window) most of the European players would not be available, so it would give locally based players, and others on the periphery like Duncan Oughton, Jeremy Brockie a chance to stake their claim.
Hayne and Hogg would be two I'd expect to get a call-up.
However, I guess it probably won't happen, and that's a pity. It would attact a decent crowd I'm sure, regardless of who we were playing.
Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

Did the kid Hayne go the Palmy Boys? Reason I ask is I remember watching the Super 8 Football comp at Rotorua in 2004, everyone was talking about how one of the Palmy guys had been picked in some kind of World Schoolboy Invitational team after going away with the NZ Schools team, then during the first game last week I heard John Helm talking about how Hayne had been picked for some world schoolboy side.

HERBERT  MUST  TAKE  PLAYERS    FROM  FORM  NOT FROM NAME ,   NZ  HAD  WAITED  28 YEARS   AND  TOO MANY  LOST  MONEY, THIS IS THE TIME TO  PUT UP  THE  STRONGEST  SQUAD  AVALIABLE

apart  from the  3 keepers   for me (paston + spoonley + moss)

defederes  if everyone is available

NELSEN ,  WINSTON REID ,  VICELLICH,  TOMMY SMITH,   LOCHEAD,  SIGMUND,  BOYENS,

MID

BROWN   MC GLINCHEY   ELLIOT   BERTOS   CRIS  JAMES    BROCKIE    HAYNE

ATTACKERS

KILLEN   WOOD  SMELTZ   FALLON   BARBAROUSES

FOR ME  THIS IS THE BEST  TEAM  NZ CAN  COME UP WITH,   THERE  IS   2  SPOTS  FREE  FOR THE  23  PLAYERS PANEL

A   DEFENSIVE  MINDED  MIDFIELDER  ( BARRON/MULLIGAN/OLD/PRITCHETT/ CHRISTIE/ COOMBES/ OUGHTON / )

THE GOOD  SIGN  IS THAT  NOW  THE  PLAYERS  TO  CHOOSE  FORM  IS BIGGER ,  MAYBE  ARROUND  40   GOOD  PROSPECTS  TO   CHOOSE  FROM

Hows Christie been playing lately?

I know he can't play, but does Daniel have any family relation or something to New Zealand?

By the way, I'd include Barron and Coombes in there as well. He was one of the best players for City in the CWC.

Who are the selectors? is it just Riki or does Frank get to select as well? and I agree picking players on form. If that is the case then Mulligan wont be going. If he does then politics again wins out.

I think Ricki always has the last word, but I think Frank's opinion is also very important for him, so Ricki's list would almost certainly be Frank's list. It couldn't be very different anyway.

Its a shame Winston Reid has declined any possible call up for the AWs. He's choosed to stick with Denmark
