How hard is it for an Australian to qualify for the AWs.

I've always wonder about some of the Aussie telent who have appeared for the Kingz & Knights and now the Phoenix.  My usual sorce of all things footie (CM and now FM) does not see Aussies at the Phoenix ever becoming Kiwis.

I ask this on the assumption that players such as Karl Dodd, Vince Lia and Michael Ferrante, who would all add quality/depth to NZ.

And in the past: Levent Osman, John Tambouras, Andy Vlahos

Maybe Ricki is working on it, I'd love to see Ferrante in our midfield, him and  Chris James could be a useful combination.

I think the rules are pretty hard now on swapping. Have to be a resident, lived in the country for a certain amount of time etc.

Lia and Ferrante both played age group for Aus so would have had to declare a change before a 21st birthday...

FatAndy... he wouldn't make my Masters side.

In FM they will be tagged as having already declared for Australia.

Why would you want Ferrante or Dodd anyway? Peverley is twice the player they are! kid just doesnt get a chance under Ricki. No offense to the A-League but he could easily start in midfield in that league and he didnt look out of his place at all playing China who have Zheng Zhi a premier league player in the middle of the park and belgium who midfielders start for ajax and az alkmar and sevilla

I'm sorry, but Pevs turned 20 last month and Ricki has named one squad in the last 12 months.  How on earth you can claim that means he doesn't get a chance under Ricki I have no idea.

I know his name has been used in the Phoenix offices, come back again if that is the case in five years time.

ZZ is a lightweight now proven to be inconsistent in the Championship. He's got good footwork but no engine and can't tackle or mark at all which leads to him being over-run in my opinion. I can't fathom what West Brom see in him but hope they take his wage bill off Charlton's hands. Good on Peverley for standing out against him but for me it doesn't make him twice the player Ferrante is, that's an audacious call, but then again it's almost beer o'clock on Friday and most minds do wander around now.

If Pevs were as good as he's being made out, why was he let go from Germany.  I don't think that visas were an issue there? And as for why Ferrante etc with the loss of the great Ivan we have now been left with a dig hole in the mid field.  I really hope he changes his mind after aperiod of recoup at Auckland City (I see no way that he would end up at Waitak given his history).

I think there is when they get out of the youth sides.

Darren Brown is gone from Rostok as well at a similar age.

Theres too many aussies in the 'nix squad as it is, now you want aussies in the All Whites as well? I know we're great and all, but give it a rest! You'll turn out like Qatar and their Uraguayans, oops I mean "Qataris". You want Daniel the brazilian, some australians... how about a bit of national pride hmm?

Hey mate thats a bit rich, Aussie, like NZ has historically been made of foreigners read Archie Thompson (Kiwi).  Both countries got to the world cup in the past on the back of their European born players and lets be honest NZs playing depth esp at a quality level is pretty thin.

Of course I could always mention Aussie cricket and its British players...
